Who has the burden of proof?

and let's not forget the people of Atlantis!

and maybe Moses didn't really live in the house of the Egyptian royalty.

and maybe George Washington really DID smoke pot!

and where will all of this constant doubt lead us?

Burden of proof.....for the sake of those who have already decided NOT to believe.....

and theology was never a discipline of proving....btw.

Rational claims are supported by evidence. If you don't need your theology to be rational, that's your choice. Many people have higher standards.

Muhammed....and Buddha....By rejecting their offers, you are clearly being paranoid, just as I am apparently paranoid for rejecting Jesus' offer of heaven. I am no more or less paranoid than you are

No offence to them, but Mohammed and Buddha are in graves, but Jesus is not.
Spot the difference?..:)

Some atheists say Jesus existed, and some say he didn't.
Make up your minds guys..:)

We're a diverse bunch. There's no reason to expect all atheists to have the same opinion on pretty much any issue... not like Christians, who all claim to follow the same God and use the same scripture but have managed to create around 37,000 factions the last time I checked. ;)

There ya go, Christians are split into factions just like atheists..:)

Well, good for them, I guess?

If that is good..then..

And, since I've already said I agreed with you that anyone who says things like that carries a burden of proof, why did you think that was remotely relevant as a response to what I said about the dictionary definition of atheism?

All I know is, if you aren't a Christian, then you aren't a believer. Both atheism and agnosticism doesn't fit this criteria. On judgment day, there will be no sematic games.

At Ragnarok, you mean.

And you're right: you'll either side with Asgard or you'll side with the Jotunn. There won't be any fence-sitters at Ragnarok.

Regarding those atheists who say Jesus existed, what's their take on him, for example do they like him?

I think that's it's somewhat more likely that there's a historical person at the core of the Jesus myth than that it was completely fabricated, but I think that there's been so much stuff glommed onto his story that it's next to impossible to tell what Jesus was really like.

As for the Jesus character in the Gospels, he strikes me as rather unhinged and unsavoury.

Which bit of this don't you like?-
Jesus said to the snooty priests-

"You're full of sh**""

I was thinking more about the episode where he gets mad at a fig tree for not producing fruit out of season.

Or where he tells his followers "go steal a donkey and a colt. If the owners say anything, tell them that the Lord needs them."

Or his dehumanizing, douchey, "let them eat cake" moment: when the disciples criticize a woman for wasting an entire bottle of expensive perfume on Jesus that could've been sold to buy food for many, Jesus tells them that it's okay that she wasted the perfume on him because he'll only be there for a short time but "the poor will always be with you."

Nah mate you're reading stuff into all that that ain't there..:)

1- Jesus was half-human with human traits so of course he'd go ballistic at finding no figs on the tree! It might have been on its last legs anyway so he simply finished it off.
2- The gospels don't saying nothing about "stealing" a donkey, it was a pre-arranged deal with the owner..:)
3- And when the woman dabbed perfume on him he certainly wasn't going to hurt her feelings by telling her off..:)

Okay let's try this one, which bit of this don't you like?-

Jesus said to the chief priests and elders-"The tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the Kingdom of God ahead of you" (Matt 21:31)

Should we all become tax collecting prostitutes?

Speaking of prossies, one once came knocking my door in tears at 4 a.m. looking for comfort after a client beat her up, so I put the kettle on and gave her a slice of pork pie and let her sleep in my bed while I had the couch.
"You can get in with me if you like" she said, but I made some excuse and stayed on the couch, I must have been nuts!
I've regretted it ever since because I let her down, she needed love and comfort so the least I could have done would have been to lay cuddling her til she fell asleep, then crept back to the couch.
Huh, I'd never make the grade as a "guardian angel" (sniffle)

"He shall give his angels charge over you to keep you safe" (Psalm 91:11)

The quote and photo are sufficient.....and correct.

Well...you left out the choice of hypocrite.

We humans often mask what we really are on the inside.
