Who is Jesus to you?

For me Jesus is of great importance. I do not think of Jesus as a man who lived 2000 years ago. I think of him as a man living today. His names not Jesus. He doesn’t preach. I think of Jesus as a regular man with one extraordinary gift that no one else possesses. In this sense religion is real for me. Something I can actually relate to. Something that is in the present.

Jesus is completely irrelevant to my religious faith. I see him as a nice Jewish man who tried to be the messiah and failed.

You probably think it is obvious, but i have to ask. What is the gift that this Jesus possesses?

Not having sufficient evidence, Jesus to me is either a real person upon which a myth has been established or simply a myth around such a creation, and such based upon what was passed on as 'evidence' or 'facts' in those times, especially the sort that had no unbiased corroboration. With such being based on some knowledge of what they knew then about Jesus, what was known then in general, and as to how much history (even modern) can not truly be stated as being 'the truth'.

His presence allows existence to be manifest.
That seems to be one of those phrases that sounds profound but actually means very little. Is it similar to John 10:10 "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.". I dont dispute there are those that find it so, and good for them. It has not been the case for me personally.

For reasons that are hard to describe, I believe in the Hindu concept of the Avatara, which is Sanskrit for "descent (into flesh)". (The Wiki article isn't stellar, but it will do.)

In effect, I see Christ as an avatar of Vishnu. I do not see him as a failed messiah, but rather, as one who left unfinished business.

To me, the "Christ" and "Avatar" are two different words for the same reality: God in human form. So Jesus was the Christ as was Buddha, Rama and others. Given the primitive nature of the consciousness of people in the West, words like "Father" and "Son" were used as analogies or perhaps metaphors.

"Unfinished business" - the cycle of Avatars each has work during their advent and the succeeding manifestation takes the work a step further.

It is profound because without the man life wouldn’t exist imo. Furthermore, I believe he makes life everlasting which is a blessing.

If I followed other religions I would look at their main figure the same way as I look at Jesus

I see Jesus as one of countless religious leaders of the past.

For me as He says Jesus is God in the flesh and my Lord and Savior.
