Who is the woman in Revelation?

gnostic

The Lost One
Who is the woman clothed with the sun, found in the book of revelation?

Revelation 12:1 said:
A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.

There's more, but you can read the rest of the chapter yourself.

Who is she?

It say in the next verse that she was pregnant. Is this supposed to be the birth of Jesus, which would mean the woman would be Mary?

The woman found refuge for 1240 days, after giving birth and the disappearance of her son. It later go on about the battle between Michael and the 7-headed dragon that had previously wanted to devour the woman's newborn son.

You know I suck at interpreting revelations. But I'll give it a shot.

Jesus is giving John a history lesson. The woman is Mary giving birth to Jesus and her hiding for 1240 days could be a allusion to her running away from King Herod. Then it talks about a batte between a 7-headed dragon (satan) In which the end result is that Satan is seal for a thousands years.

This particular woman is a symbolic rendering of Heaven "giving birth" to the child which is the establishment of the Kingdom in Heaven with Jesus as it's King.
The dragon (Satan) was waiting to devour the "child" because Satan knew that his place in Heaven would soon be lost forever. That event has already happened and now Satan and his demons are all confined to the earth.

This is a bit metaphorical. No earthly woman is clothed with the sun.

The frist thing that should be obvious is that this is a stellar event. It is not an earthly event.
Rev 12:1 ¶ And a great sign was seen in heaven

The woman is the planet Jupiter. Not very long ago the planet was bombarded by a comet in a very spectacular way.

You can make Revelation say whatever you want it to say imo, if some of the crazy notions people have come up with over the years are anything to go by!

What research? Revelation is a matter of opinion, NOT fact!

actually that isnt true we can look in hebrew culture, history and see if the Hebrews had symbols for things, such as animals, numbers etc. we can also look at their theology and see what they would have understood God to be like and see if that is compatible with what is seen. other stuff in revelation has a self evident meaning and so on.
