Matt Smith, just so funny and half of the time, you look at him, think "Does he know what he's doing?", he just seems so random and crazy, and then BAM! Everything is revealed! Not only he figured things out way before anyone but also had a plan all along. It's always surprise after surprise with him! :D

But to be fair I've never seen the older Dr. Who's (anything before Christopher Eccleston).

Tom Baker. Met him once when I was about 11. He was in his full Doctor garb (hat, long scarf, long coat etc). He signed my Daleks book and gave me a jelly baby (his character's quirk).
I'm not into the modern Dr Who incarnations but out of them, Christopher Eccleston was not bad.

I'm a HUGE fan of David Tennant as the Doctor. There were just so many facets with him. The love for Rose he could never seem to voice, the extreme internal loneliness you could see every once and a while, along with his own battle against his own ego sometimes. Oh, and his trip around to say "goodbye" when he knew he was going to regenerate, fantastic stuff. His last words before he left and Matt Smith appeared just made me cry. I got so attached to him as the Doctor.

BTW, Draka - you forgot a Doctor: Peter Cushing. Or do the movies not count as canonical?

I was going strictly by the list of actors in the tv series. I could remember several of their names off the top of my head, but certainly not all, so I had to look them up to make sure. I actually didn't even know there was a Doctor Who movie.

There were two, AFAIK. Two with Peter Cushing, anyhow.

I've actually seen Doctor Who and the Daleks (though long ago, so I don't really remember much of the plot). It was strange to see a young Governor Tarkin driving the TARDIS and acting generally nice as opposed to, say, blowing up planets with his Death Star. :D

Turk was just looking up the movies and from what we can see they don't really seem to be connected in base or storyline with the series. Doctor Who being a human who built the TARDIS for one. Right off the bat there you've lost the "who" Doctor Who is.

That's right! I forgot that detail.

So... non-canon? :D
