What do you think of Bluegrass? Gift of the Gods or Spawn of Satan?

Also, what are some great groups or artists to listen to?

Nickle Creek is pretty alright. Bluegrass is fine by me as long as there's none of that singing crap. All instrumental, and it better be fast and upbeat.

Bluegrass is excellent. It has its roots in Irish folk music. If you like Bluegrass music you simply have to listen to the Chieftains' CD "Down The Old Plank Road". It features some of the great contemporary bluegrass artists like Allison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs of "Kentucky Thunder."

I really like Nickle Creek. They are the only Bluegrass that I really listen to, but I wouldn't be opposed to listening to more.

Growing up in rural Kentucky and wanting nothing more than to leave, I thought Bluegrass music typified everything I wanted to get away from: small town, country life, simple-mindedness, etc. I believed that if I liked that kind of music, (and country music), I would be the stereotype that ooutsiders believed about rural folk. I hated it and didn't recognize it for the art form it is. I know better now.

Gift of the gods...bluegrass is amazing! I would love to learn clogging, that would be so much fun! There are a million local bands here that have CDs out that I would love to reccomend, only I can't remember their names right now! If I think of any, I'll let you know...
