Select as many options as apply to you.

Who or what do you pray to? Who or what have you prayed to? Have you ever prayed to a deity or other being that's not part of your own faith tradition? Why do you pray? Why do you pray to the deities or other beings you pray to?

Until I was about 15 I was Episcopalian and prayed to the trinity. Oh, the holy and apastolic church...*remembers*

No, i dont feel like praying to people who (i feel personally) dont exist. (....i dont see the gods as actual people....Just thought personafied. Ways to explain what we cannot on our own.)

I meditate to clear my head, maybe gain new perspective or a better understanding of the world around me, and the Good.

I dont see anything wrong with getting in touch with Sophia from time to time.

I direct my prayers to God (the Abrahamic God, our Father in Heaven). I don't pray to Jesus, but I do pray in His Name, or through Him since I believe He is our mediator with the Father.

I pray because it's my means of communication with God. It's the way I can talk to Him, thank Him for the many ways in which He has blessed me and ask for His continued help.

I stupidly left off the option for those who don't pray at all; I guess that'll have to fall under Other. Sorry about that.

I pray to the Trinity, angels, and saints. I have a qualification, though. Prayer to angels and saints is more asking them to beseech God to do something, and if they act to help me, it is only by His power.

Well I chose Trinity only for exactly this reason. I might ask the angels and saints to pray for me, which is what we commonly call praying to them, but that is not the same as praing to the Triune God.

The Trinity also. God and Jesus. There might be more Gods, but they're the CEO'S of heaven. The one's you sign your check. ;)

I pray to the Netjeru, the gods and goddesses of Kemet a fair amount, though it usually amounts to little more than a chat. It's a bit more during a ritual, of course. Also to my akhu, the blessed dead, both known and unknown when I tend to my akhu shrine. I also voted "Other", because I sometimes find myself talking to the Netjeri, the nature spirits and others whenever I can feel them doing their thing near me.

I pray to Jehovah God through Jesus christ

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all—[this is] what is to be witnessed to at its own particular times. 1 TIMOTHY 2;5-6 Yes there is one God that i pray too, and the bible tells me his name

That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,

You alone are the Most High over all the earth ....psalm 83;18

Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth." (Matthew 6:9, 10)

Jesus himself said in prayer to this One: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." (John 17:3)

I believe in the trinity, therefore, when I pray in the name of Jesus...I'm praying to my Father.

Without prayer and communion with my Father, I don't see how I could possibly grow spiritually. We're told to pray ceaselessly in the Bible, and I strive (note that I said strive) to do so on a daily basis.

Did you put Lucifer on the poll just for me? Yes, I do pray to him regularly, but it isn't to ask favors. I only ask for guidance. I can handle the rest myself. I have on occasion asked for help from forces of nature (actually, only wind), but it isn't in my general practice to do so.

I pray to the triune God
I pray a lot to God or Jesus through formulaic prayers during worship, or when making sick calls, or at other community functions. My personal "prayer time," though, consists mainly of meditation, when I connect with the Holy Spirit -- God within me. During that time, I mainly listen for God to talk to me -- I quiet my mind to listen for that "still, small voice."

I'm a bit different; I don't pray TO, I pray FROM.
By this I mean that as a Buddhist, my prayers are offers of merit generated by my practice towards the object of the prayer; this differs from the theistic style of prayer as supplication to an outside entity for some response.

Can you elaborate on that a little?

Well, for example, if I am praying for the health of another person, the prayer would follow something like:
"I offer the merits I have accumulated through chanting the Odaimoku for the health of *************. I pray that these merits encourage her spirit and speed her recovery, and help her regain full health as soon as possible."
This prayer is recited aloud, during service. So I am not requesting help from elsewhere, I am offering it from myself; if you can understand the distinction. Does that clarify?

gods and goddesses from various traditions, celestial objects, and forces of nature best describes what i pray to, but it depends on my mood/my need

most of my ritual work/praying involves the forces of nature and one or two various deities. i rarely use the Sun as a celestial object, but i use the moon quite a bit!
