Who's The Real Dummy?

AT&T FIRED President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership.

He received a $26 million dollar severance package.

Perhaps it's not Walter who's lacking intelligence.

Wow....if that is real, it's insane giving someone 26 mil because you fired them.....
Myself though, I hate AT&T. My cell phone, under Cingular, would get clear reception everywhere. But since AT&T bought them out, I have had some very lame service, and am considering changing servers.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
Man! Hows that for a "thank-you, we'll miss you, don't come back again" gift?

If only I was as lucky to get fired with that kinda cash as a farewell gift!!!

When the company merged (no doubt just to have a scapegoat to screw us over), they sent out these updates across the towers to change the name on your display to say "AT&T" instead of "Cingular." From what a few in our office have gathered this apparently caused some sort of issue with your SIM recieving updates from the towers... which causes signal issues. (No one will admit this... we whined about it to tech support and everybody n they told us we were imagining things) Go to a local corporate store (not radioshack/walmart/best buy) and have them give you a new SIM. Make sure they push updates to it afterwards, and make sure they get your contacts. You'll be all back to normal.;) (Unless of course its ur phone thats busted... then ur s.o.l.). If they charge for SIMS where you live you can call cust service and they will notate your account so you will not get charged.

I have noticed this.
But when I asked a store employee (a former Cingular outlet), he said to take my battery out, wait a few seconds, put it back in and turn my phone back on and that would refresh the connection and get it up again.
I didn't bother to tell him it would not work, since I do turn my cell phone off once in awhile, and not once has the improved the signal.

I will brag, my Samsung phone is almost immortal. It has survived a 40 foot drop onto concrete while flipped out (I thought for sure it would break when it hit the floor as it was failing), a few drops into snow, being thrown, and even left out in the rain. (That caused it to be on a permanent vibrate for a couple hours, and then the battery became position sensitive, and the phone would vibrate in the battery wasn't in exactly the right position, and would not turn on. It went back to normal after a couple weeks.)
And all it took was one company to change to screw up it's reception. It won't even register a missed call anymore if a call won't go through because my phone is in a dead area. If I am lucky, and the person leaves a voice mail, I'll get it several hours to a few days later.

The "hard reset/ hard shock" pull the battery out thing is always the first thing. It's similar to pulling the plug outa the wall or hitting the power button when ur computer freezes. But you need a new SIM and updates sent to it, trust me;). That is an EXTREMELY common problem. We get like, 10-15 a day it seems, of people who say they have been having problems since the merger. Doing that fixes it about 90% of the time.
Anyway, that has to be what it is, cause when they merged nothing changed physically like the towers, the employees, the phones, the network... the only change was the name and colors and some new policies. The customer affecting policy changes have all been beneficial for the most part... but I don't even bother to try and go through this with customers cuz they wont listen, they wont understand, and they just KNOW AT&T is out to get them and AT&T killed cingular. lol AT&T and Bellsouth had always been the parent companies of Cingular. Cingular was just the wireless division of Bellsouth. When AT&T merged with Bellsouth and changed the name they thought it would be easier to have the whole company be one name I guess??? Which was stupid too cuz everyone seemed to hate AT&T even before they merged, and now people get us all mixed up with the home phone people and they hate us because they hate AT&T.

I am going to give everyone reading one lil hint for getting people to serve you better anywhere:
When you need help with something, wherever you might be, refrain from saying "You people," or saying something like, "You are <insert comp. name> so you do something!"
Nothing grinds my gears more than being dehumanized by customers, and they usually don't get too far. i understand that sometimes you get crappy agents, but they are all not crappy and they are human.:)
