I have news: I no longer believe in him :(

Why build your faith around him if you think he's only a myth????

And he is so totally unrealistic that I see no reason to admire him.......

I see no reason to so am now a humanist

As a significantly secular Jew, I obviously do not build my faith around him.
At the same time, as a reasonably well informed Jew, I struggle to admire mythicists.

Did you admire Jesus beforehand? If yes, what did you admire about him?
His teachings and selflessness are why I liked him

But I now see that the truth of his teachings are independent of his status as a real man and are universal

And if he was truly God then his sacrifice means nothing, it makes the whole thing little more than a big drama

If he was an ordinary guy who chose to die for all our sins then the would be very different, but that's not what Christianity teaches

It's not that I no longer like him, it is more accurate to say I have dismissed him

What do you find unrealistic, @Eddi? Just wondering.
All the miracles, basically

If he was just a teacher and a thinker then he would be more credible but for me the miracles spoil it

They may have made ancient people more keen to believe in him but they have had the opposite effect on me

Plus I don't believe in the Abrahamic God

I like him for those things, especially his teachings.

But I now see that the truth of his teachings are independent of his status as a real man and are universal

The truth of his teachings are universal, but how many individuals embody them? If we met just one individual who really embodies those exact same teachings, we would hold that person in very high regard as our paragon. How then could we disassociate the truth of Jesus’ teachings from himself?

And if he was truly God then his sacrifice means nothing, it makes the whole thing little more than a big drama

It would be a big drama, yes.

If he was an ordinary guy who chose to die for all our sins then the would be very different

An ordinary guy as in only a human being? It would indeed be very different.

but that's not what Christianity teaches

Mainstream Christianity doesn’t teach that. Monadic Christianity, of course, is not mainstream Christianity.

Nobody can meet the standards that Jesus sets

I mean, he is supposed to be without sin

10 Bible verses about Jesus Christ, Sinlessness

Yet Christianity tells us we are all sinners

That makes Jesus an irrelevant role model

If you're going to have someone as a role model then it needs to be possible to live up to their standards
How then could we disassociate the truth of Jesus’ teachings with himself?
By seeing that they represent the best of humanity and don't need to be embodied by some unrealistically perfect person who isn't really a person in the same way as everyone else is
Monadic Christianity, of course, is not mainstream Christianity.
It's now called Monadic Pantheistic Humanism :D

Jesus is not a myth. Jesus did exist. I believe Jesus is a holy soul

Why do you stop believing in him? I am just curious

You do not need to be christian to believe in Jesus. I am not christian

Many new agers believe in Jesus. That Jesus was a holy soul, with good teachings

I very much doubt that he existed as he has been portrayed in the bible

Maybe as some kind of minor trouble-maker who managed to get himself crucified and who inspired the myth but not as the son of God or anything like that

And The Bible says he was the son of God - I cannot believe that

I stopped believing in the Abrahamic God

He explicitly said that he was God

So, to use CS Lewis's thinking, that would mean he was either Lord, Liar, or Lunatic - or never said that in the first place

I don't think he was Lord

So as far as I'm concerned, he either didn't say he was or was either a Liar or a Lunatic
