Al-Aqsa Is In My Heart.
A few days ago, I was searching the "General Debates" and found two threads about the same thing "The most popular name of boys in UK". I was surprised that this title makes news, and wondered why all the fuss over UK Mohammads?!
From OnIslam: "
So what do you think?
From OnIslam: "
Mohammed, the name of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him), has become the most popular name for newborn babies in England and Wales in 2009, according to the Britain's Office for National Statistics
Figures by the Office for National Statistics showed that 7,515 boys were given the name of Mohammed with its variant spellings. Britain is home to
a sizable Muslim minority of nearly 2 million.
While some British citizens were concerned about the survey result, others were more tolerant. Where we had many Johns and Jacks we also have plenty of Mohammeds now" Dr. Justin Gest, an academic at Harvard and the London School of Economics, told the Telegraph.
If another non-Christian name was the most popular among newly born in the UK, do you think it would have received equal media attention?
Also, how many newborn Muhammeds do you think were born in other countries around the world? "
