Why are “some atheists” so intolerant of religious believers?

Please note that Isaiah also predicted a Golden Age so this is not just coming from Baha'u'llah. I think that many other religious scriptures also predicted a Golden Age but I do not have those handy now.

I have little "faith" in what people have written about matters which they literally know nothing of themselves......regardless of WHO they are.

I did not SAY that there would never be any cataclysmic disasters BEFORE that prediction. All I said is that ALL of humanity will not be wiped out, some people will be left to build the Kingdom of God on earth, as it is in heaven.

Do you HONESTLY believe that some asteroid, the size of Manhattan Island, is going to be 'selective' in what and WHO it causes to become extinct?

Yes, of course the one that took out the Dinosaurs, left just enough DNA lying around for some mammalians to survive and become human beings. So i SUPPOSE anything is 'possible'.

But to fancy something like that golden age you say is predicted, has got to be the absolute epitome of wishful thinking.

Indeed, Baha'u'llah warned of cataclysmic disasters more than once... Here is one such passage: <snip>
I bet he did! I also bet that he had NO IDEA that the Sun itself will someday go nova, then super-nova, and completely consume the three (there's that magical number 3 again) inner planets.

So much for your 'glory days' on planet earth.

That could very well happen, but it won't wipe everyone out. Some people will be left to rebuild; how many, nobody knows.
Ohhhh, but the SHADOW knows <sorry, couldn't resist>

Religion is antithetical to a caring and just society. Until religion, be it Christianity, Buddhism, or Satanism is eliminated, society will forever be held back.

The only way religion will be eliminated is when individuals recognize it aint reality.

Any ThoughtPolice actions wont able do it in.

On the other hand thinking of ourselves as purely mechanical illusions of process doesnt help humanity either.

I consider many religions to be totally intolerant of non believers. They by nature take on adverserial stances against non believers. Anyone that is different then what the religion demands of all people becomes an adversary.

There are honestly good people who have gone the way of religion, who cant see reality as it is, and will not tolerate people that they would otherwise care about because their religion judges them as infidels. You can see that they care but the religion blinds them to everything real.

No, it is scriptural thinking. :)

God taught Baha’u’llah, and God is All-Knowing, so of course Baha’u’llah KNEW what lies ahead for humans, better than any human can ever know, but Baha’u’llah did not reveal to us everything He knew, and for good reason...

“Oh, would that the world could believe Me! Were all the things that lie enshrined within the heart of Bahá, and which the Lord, His God, the Lord of all names, hath taught Him, to be unveiled to mankind, every man on earth would be dumbfounded.......

Of these truths some can be disclosed only to the extent of the capacity of the repositories of the light of Our knowledge, and the recipients of Our hidden grace.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 176
“That could very well happen, but it won't wipe everyone out. Some people will be left to rebuild; how many, nobody knows.”

I do not know if Baha’u’llah knew that but I know that God knows that..... because God is ALL-KNOWING.... <sorry, couldn't resist> :D
