Why are carbonated drinks so addictive?

The caffeine is a big one, but there is also the psychological addiction of a bubbly drink.

I am addicted, and I recently quit drinking them on a regular basis. Let's see how long until I relapse.

I found it to be much, much easier than quitting smoking. I still have the occasional soda (and even cigarette), but the cravings aren't going to be consuming and leave you yearning.

Get a prescription for Topamax. It's used for migraine headaches and seizures, but off-label for weight control. You'll stop drinking carbonated drinks pronto. It makes them taste beyond horrible. :spit:

I do not find them so addictive anymore. Probably because my addiction for Cammelia sinensis (that's tea, folks) has supplanted my addiction to HFCS beverages.

so unhealthy and addictive ... I almost vomit if I drink a whole can. The sugar reaction is really something else when you're not used to it. Anyone else have the same feeling?

How much sugar? Try letting some stand and evaporate. You'll see.

What?! Heroin?! Please tell me that you are joking!
He is. But he is also right that the original recipe for Coca-Cola contained trace amounts of cocaine, and is where the "Coca" part of the name comes from. But it wasn't enough coke to effect you, and the energy that came from it was due to high amounts of sugar and caffeine.

I've been trying to quit sodas for about two months with little success.

I quit smoking and I've switched from caffeinated to non-caffeinated (Sprite, Sierra Mist, etc) but I can't make the final transition from soda to water.

It's harder than quitting smoking in my opinion.
