I can't help but sound like a fool and think that it goes back to Adam and Eve sinning, realizing they were naked, and sewing fig leaves together.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with having opposable thumbs, but also a desire to live in environments that at least sometimes require protection from the extremes...after that, I'm sure that social mores and practices have a role, too.

Yeah, definitely doesn't have anything to do with adam and eve, as they didn't exist. At least there isn't any evidence pointing to them existing in the way described in Genesis.

Early humans started wearing clothing so that they could migrate out of Africa about 170,000 years ago. To be able to survive in harsher, colder climates they had to cover their (relatively) newly hairless skin. Makes a lot of sense, actually.

Here is an interesting article on the subject: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...s-170-000-years-ago-according-study-LICE.html

The Genesis story always bugged me because God set them up to fail, let the serpent in, then punished us for it.

If Eve would condemn all humans for an apple, what would she do for a Klondike bar? :p
