Why Are Most Pop Songs About Love and Sex?

Pop music isn't really meant to be listened to, it's meant to be danced to. Love and sex are universal enough, and therefore non-threatening enough, that dancing to them is usually easy without having one's core thoroughly shaken.

...key word, usually.

(Emphasis mine).

What, you're saying you can't dance to Beat It?

personally, I prefer this version

Sometimes, I wonder if it just has a catchy beat, and then when you stop to listen the lyrics you're like...woah. lol
I listen to all genres (even the hip hop/pop nonsense), but sometimes music with no words at all, is the best!

Country music is funny. It's all about love and/or breaking up and missing the person.

I enjoy Christian pop music, not all but some...as it is a message that resonates with me, and there are some truly talented artists out there promoting a positive message about faith.

I think current country has mostly become a version of pop music...as is a lot of what I hear on the Christian stations...but I got to admit, I do like some of both. I prefer a less "produced" sound most of the time.

Oh, I like Sugar Man, loved the film/documentary.

Off to see Fat White Family at the end of the month...

Because those themes are both intensely emotional and very, very broad in their appeal.

Anyways, here's a pop song about nuclear warfare:
