Why did God create us?

I'm new and hoping to learn more about truth. Why do Christians say that God created us?

[ :And to add to Maize we are also created to show God's love by serving each other and giving that Love to the world. We are also to constantly practice our faith by telling those we come in contact with about Him. This pleases Him because "Without faith, it is impossible to please God". This is a quote from Paul, the Apostle

I think you need to think of God as a metaphore. No one knows if God exists.
We as humans can't explain life yet. Thats why lots of people create an answer (god) based on no proof for this baffling question. But I think if you try to look deeper in to science you will start to realize that most likely god doesn't exist. At least the type of God that Christians think exists.

How does the Bible explain dinasours? Why is it that we haved proved the Earth is much older than the Bible says. Most would say God put that stuff there to test our faith??!? That is the most ridiculous answer I have ever heard. God is not here to trick us, and mess with our minds. I think the message religion conveys is excellent, but at the same time it cause so much corruption and misguidance. Look with in yourself and within others for the answers you seek. God is you. You are God. And in the years to come, im sure we will still see no sign of God.

One last circular question:
If God created us, then who created God? If your answer is God has always existed, isn't it simpler to say the Cosmos has always existed?

I believe that it is incorrect to say that the Bible gives the age of the earth.Time, as we know it has never been Father God's time. Therefore it is impossible to say how long the creation process took. The Father himself told Isaiah, "My ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts". And according to Jesus, the only way to have God inside of ourselves is to believe that He(Jesus) was sent from the Father and that He(Jesus) died for the forgivness of our sins and that He(Jesus) was risen from the grave for our salvation. Then and only then can He(Jesus) come to live inside us and then we can be seen by the Father as more Jesus than us and we can be heirs and like Christ Jesus. Now all of this opinion on my part may appear to be off the question, but it really is not very much off track. Consider what Father God did for us and realize the simple answer is that He created us to LOVE us and to have us LOVE HIM in return.

I've been told by some people that the reason that god created us is to keep the
cycle of spiritual life going, kind of like farming our souls then ingesting them. :drink:

Frankly, in everything we do, we believe in and live pursuant to causation. It is much more logical and consistent with this inescapable world view to attribute creation to a cause, God, than to attribute creation to its own independent existence.

Every culture understands and has a concept for god(s), post-physical existence, and a "soul", or some extra-material fundamental part of the human being. This is true, even today, in our extremely materialistic, empirical Western culture. The fact that common curiousity about these things still exists in everyone, and that this forum even exists, are testament to the continued fundamental nature of these issues. I cannot believe that it is an accident that these concepts continue to resonate so strongly in the human experience. To me, that is one of the strongest arguments that these concepts must be real and that God created us with an inbred curiousity about Him and about such things.

The doctrinal reason is that God chose to create as a 'free act' of his will, and as such there can be no 'reason' as to the why - for if there was a reason, then there would be an imperative upon God, which would render God subject to limitation, and therefore not God as we (Christians) understand Him to be.

A metaphysical reason is that as God comprises 'all possibility' - then creation is such a possibility and therefore the question becomes not why did God create, but rather what would stop God realising what is possible - what limits God - and as He is subject to no limitation, there is nothing to stop Him.

A follow-on from this is that you and I existed as a possibility before time began, so your (and my) existence is the realisation of a possibility and thus the Christian believes in direct causality and not in any intermediate levels or layers so beloved of the gnostics of old and many New Agers today.

"Most likely God doesn't exist"? Interesting. Tell me, if you found an old deck of cards on your kitchen table one day and noticed they were in perfect order, what would you assume? That they were shuffled once and fell into order, or that they were placed in order? I'll let you answer that, but the odds of them falling into order after one shuffle are about 1/8 to the 63rd power. That's a small, small number. So, if God doesn't exist, how were we created? By chance meetings of atoms and proteins and the like? OK, what are the odds of chance acting in opposition to the second law of thermodynamics for the last 10 billion years running? The number is too small; science can't calculate it. I guess my point is this: you could shuffle a deck of cards into perfect order a million times in a row before a universe could ever arrive out of chance. An outside force as to be acting upon it. That force is God; so basically, "most likely" God does exist. No gambler in the universe would take your odds over mine. Be careful about pawning off assumptions as fact.

How does the Bible explain dinosaurs? Another one of God's creations. Next question.

The earth's age? You have proved absolutely nothing. You have postulated much, but a theory falls far short of proof. At the same time, we don't know exactly how long each creative period or "day" was (the Hebrew denotes an indefinite period of time), so the Bible does not give us a time, and you give us no proof, so the whole question is moot. Next.

God has existed in one form or another forever, but so have we. Energy can be neither created nor destroyed. The cosmos have also been around forever in one form or another. I think your reasoning is more circular than the question; you haven't proven anything.

As for why we were created, God sent us here (as spirits) to gain bodies so that we could have the opportunity to overcome evil and become more like God and Jesus. We are sojourners on this planet waiting to be back home to our Father, who hopes we grow up to be just like Him. Did you know it's a commandment to be as perfect as He is?

What does the word reconciliation mean? Many will say a return to a former state. That's somewhat right, but the real meaning holds so much more truth. It comes from the Latin, "reconcilio," which means "to sit down again with someone." Christ's atonement makes it possible for us to return to sit with our Father in heaven. How can we be returning? Because that's were we left from. We lived with God before coming here (Jeremiah 1:5). We were spirits and He sent us here to gain bodies (like His own) so that we could become more like Him.

First I must address the main issue. I agree with Joyfuldove222, dan, zipo29, and martha dodge. I believe those are all reasons why God created us.

But about the whole dinosaur thing. In fact the bible does give some clues as to the dinosaurs' existance.

See: Job ch. 40 and 41; Psalm 104:25,26; and Isaiah 27:1 just to name a few

The date of 4004 was calculated from the genealogy given in the Bible from a known historical date. No theory here. The length of a "creation day" is immaterial.

But certain assumptions are made in that calculation; and I don't see how the length of the creation day is immaterial. It is entirely relevant.

You think the Bible wrong?

We're very special and we were created because God  so much. He were very bored and he created
you. When He saw that Adam sinned, He found a way to stop sin. That is Jesus Christ and he died for us and he rose. Now Christianity have 2 billion aderhents. Isn't that amazing?

No mediveal Hell could exist. The hell is that evil guys get refinded and become good. God loves them too.

No fundies doctrine either in The Gospels. God see beauty in us. He want you to be His sons and daughters. God love you whether you are disabled or not, Jew or Gentile, White or black.

The truth is that God is not a mean sadist but mad about you.
