Dang. You're right! It was the cheese. And it wasn't NASA who did it, but Wallace and Gromit. I saw the documentary.

good movie!!!First, some breaking news......
A new NASA-funded study lays out a plan to return humans to the Moon | The Verge
Now......the real reason men want to go to the moon....
Is this a competition? Because I think going to the moon is both cooler and more useful than anything the Italian government sponsored in 1969.In your opinion, what induced the Americans to spend millions of dollars on something so useless, unfruitful and above all dangerous?
I have to assume that the Government had money to waste in the sixties
I would assume that you know nothing about modern scientific discoveries and the amazing and unbelievably useful scientific discoveries owed to the Apollo program and the geniuses who played a part.In your opinion, what induced the Americans to spend millions of dollars on something so useless, unfruitful and above all dangerous?

I just consider them heroes, and not just the astronauts. Everyone who worked on the space program, both the Russian and American scientists, made great strides in science, developed profound technology that changed the world, and human society as a whole would have very little of what we have today without those efforts. In all honesty, please do some real research with an open mind. Those guys were American Heroes, imho.
