Why does a benevolent god keep making homosexuals?

If there is a God and only good can come from God, then it must follow that homosexuals are good. Are we not also His children, created in His image?

Homosexuality has been found in over 1500 different animal species. In some cases, up to 92% of the the time homosexual sex is preferred over heterosexual sex. If there is a God and He does have a plan; then it would seem homosexuals are part of that plan. As he seems to keep making them, everywhere. God really seems to love His gay children. Perhaps he thinks you straight peeps can't do this on your own, so He sent his rainbow children to help you along the way.

I think that 92% would be more then God rolling the dice. Although, I am not a math major or anything of the sort; that is just my layman guess.

And it is not just the lesbian primates, in many species, homosexuals are a large percentage. It is humans that have the low percentage; although, many humans hide their sexuality. Making it is impossible to tell how many humans have predilections for homosexual sex. There is more at work, then just the random chance that someone is born homosexual. Homosexuality can be traced trough people's family trees; suggesting that it is genetic, that it is written into the structure of our beings.

Homosexuals are cool and all, but this particular argument is lacking.

If there is a God and only good can come from God, then it must follow that earthquakes, infections, sudden infant death syndrome, genetic defects, polio, miscarriages, cancer, and ovarian cysts are good.

God finds it necessary to create things that distract the Religious Right from the real problems facing humanity. That's because the Religious Right would screw up the solutions to the real problems. Hence, it is necessary to distract them from addressing the real problems so that humanity can advance.

No argument here from me.

Personally, I think it is precisely situations such as this one that were foreseen when God gave the Jews permission to interpret and reinterpret the Torah through the mechanism of halakhah (Jewish law). What might have seemed to be what God was saying and demanding of us at a long-ago time may well not at all be what God wishes, and so our prior understanding of it must be radically reinterpreted.

I know that I could certainly not believe in a God who created people as homosexuals and then decreed homosexuality unilaterally immoral. Therefore, the fault must be ours, in our prophets' inability to understand what God was requiring of them when those particular commandments were given, and thus something was left unclear that must be made clear later, in halakhic reinterpretation.
