Why does the US Support Israel?

It includes a clip of Biden as a senator stating that if Israel didn't exist, that the US would have to invent it.

Why? Because of our economy. Israel is necessary to have some critical control over oil in the region and trade is the basic justification given.
Claiming that Israel is a tool of the US. Previously the US had relations with Iran and Saudi Arabia. After the Iranian revolution, the US saw the support of Israel key to protecting its interests in the middle east.

Do you agree with this and does it justify the current situation.

We need to promote peace among all these nations which are so diverse.

And all people of the Mediterranean, whether they speak Spanish, or Arabic or Turkish desire peace and not war. Peace favors prosperity and freedom.

We all expect the US and the NATO to promote peace in this area of the world...and if some hideous and godless warmongers want to use Israelis or Arabs or Turks as cannon fodder to sow hatred and conflicts... this means that the peace we can achieve (and people here have understood it is achievable) is hated by devilish warmongers.

It shows Netanyahu as an American Israeli supporting American interests. Not so much the interest of the people of Israel.
The US government doesn't want peace in the Middle East. They want justification to go to war with Iran.

The current situation leading to a response from Iran which will justify military action from the US. Maybe the people want peace, the US government wants control over world energy supplies.

According to the video, other than religious Jews, the people of Israel do not necessarily support the actions of their current government.
Netanyahu's current direction is to support American interests rather than the interests of peace in the Middle East.

The video says the point is to exhaust the resources of Israel and Ukraine to support America's control of energy resources. I also saw that when question arise in US congress about how we justify support of Israel it is quickly shutdown. Perhaps because the answer is not publicly palatable.

That is why we are willing to send billions. It's only money and we can always print more.

One side cannot create peace in a conflict.

For a lot of Evangelicals, the destruction of Israel is the ultimate goal behind their current "support" of Israel.

Their belief is that Jewish possession of all of the "traditional" territory of Israel is a necessary condition to bring about Armageddon and the Second Coming, during which everyone who hasn't accepted Christ - including practicing Jews - will be purged from the Earth or banished to Hell, depending on their specific flavour of eschatology.
