Why Doesn't The Qur'an Call God Yhwh?

Oh yes Smart Guy, do you think whatever name is given to God, is nothing more than whatever culture you are in, like the word Allah, means a lot to you and your culture, but it means nothing to another culture, whereas they would have their own name for what we call God, is there really a right and wrong in this thinking ?.

That's a really good question. (I'm trying to act cool :D)

I think the word God and the names used for Him are are related much more to the language and the religion used in it rather than the culture. I actually think the culture has little effect in it really. The Quran says Allah and mentions many other names and the Bible uses God and the Lord and some others. The little effect of culture I referred to is because religions have/had effects on cultures that makes many cultural references seem purely cultural but they actually have a religious origins. Like the pagan events for example which these days became cultural and used as vacations for whole nations.

If we take Arabic, for example, the names used to refer to God are actually adjectives and attributes related to Him, and those are words that can be translated. In English, some other names for God are the Lord and the Father. Both are not proper nouns and can be translated to other languages as well. Some people consider Allah a proper Arabic noun for God, same as Eisa to Jesus, and some others consider it just a noun that means the only god worthy of worship. The former, according to my post I'm typing right now, is the less expected to be correct, and I used to think it is the right view before.

I wouldn't really say any thinking about them is wrong or right. But if I had to choose, I'd say it is a universal thing that referred to with words depending on the language first thing.

Thank you but Google gives me another meaning
But in any case, thank you
You're welcome.
Yes, Google Translate translates words separately. It does not translate idioms مصطلحات اللغة الإنجليزية. Kind of like جبت العيد in Saudi Arabic slang, which means that someone caused a problem or made a big mistake. If it is translated with electronic translators it would be something like "you brought Christmas" which does not make sense :)

The concept of divine "naming" in Judaism is complex. Each "name" is more a label for a facet of God since no one name can capture the infinite (in fact, one title is "ein sof" -- having no end). According to mystical sources, every combination of Hebrew letters is, in some way, a "name" of God. When we speak of God in prayer we commonly use 2 words, one which refers to the attribute of justice (elo-him) and one which refers to the attribute of mercy (the 4 letter name, which also points to the eternal nature of God). However, instead of pronouncing the four letter name, we say ado-nai, "my master", and when we are not speaking in a ritual or sacred context we replace that word with "hashem" which simply means "the name". The 4 letter name is therefore not a generic term which simply is the Hebrew for "God" because in Hebrew there is no casual term for the monotheistic, biblical God. There are modern Hebrew words which might be used to apply to the idea of god or the god-object of other religions, but that would be a hallmark of the distinction between biblical and modern Hebrew.

Fascinating, thankyou.

I'd agree that no name can describe God.

Gods greatest name in the Qur'an according to the Hadith
Huwal Hayyul Qayyum
or
Ya ħayyu Ya qayyuum
living/self-sufficient!

Gods greatest name in the Torah Yehowah
“YHWH” is "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient,"

Actual pronunciation of YHWH is lost

YHWH means “The Living” "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient,"

Jesus did not use the term “YHWH”

Gods greatest name

So in Hebrew it's Ya Huwa "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient,"
NAMES OF GOD - JewishEncyclopedia.com
In appearance, Yhwh (
V09p160004.jpg
) is the third person singular imperfect "ḳal" of the verb
V09p160005.jpg
("to be"), meaning, therefore, "He is," or "He will be," or, perhaps, "He lives," the root idea of the word being, probably, "to blow," "to breathe," and hence, "to live." With this explanation agrees the meaning of the name given in Ex. iii. 14, where God is represented as speaking, and hence as using the first person—"I am" (
V09p161001.jpg
, from
V09p161002.jpg
, the later equivalent of the archaic stem
V09p161003.jpg
). The meaning would, therefore, be "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient,"

Actually, Yahweh is not exactly the true rendering of the YHWH in Exodus. It’s a total guess.

Gods greatest name
In Arabic it's living/self-sufficient!
Huwal Hayyul Qayyum
or
Ya ħayyu Ya qayyuum

Hebrew and Arabic are sister languages and certain words sound the same or have similar meanings, but don't always have the same spelling.

Reminder Today"s Hebrew words are a product of European Jewish converts, that have substituted original sounds of Hebrew words that actually sounded like Arabic, to Yiddish a German dialect, that's their original language and not true Hebrew.

Hebrew today is simply, Yiddish with a new Hebrew alphabet.

Example God in Hebrew and Arabic also in Aramaic Jesus language and Amharic Ethiopian language a sister language to the other Semitic family tree of Asiatic African languages, the name of God has the same root words.

Aramaic God alah
aleph lamed hey

Hebrew God alah
aleph lamed hey

Arabic God Allah
aleph lamed lamed hey

Amharic God Alaaha

Jewish man says Allah is a Biblical name for God

Why Muslim Call God Allah Rabbi Tovia Singer

Now back to Gods greatest name

Although the true pronunciation of the letters YHWH is lost, you can still understand what the word means and it's meaning is exactly like used in the Qur'an for Gods greatest name in the Qur'an

Huwal Hayyul Qayyum
or
Ya ħayyu Ya qayyuum
living/self-sufficient!

Torah
Ya Huwa YHWH "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient,"

Gods name is in the Qur'an and according to Hadith, it's his greatest name, although God has 99 names in the Qur'an and even more, the Hebrew name of God Ya Huwa "He who is self-existing, self-sufficient," is one of them.

So when a Christian says Muhammad didn't know Gods true name and it isn't in the Qur'an, this isn't true Gods greatest name is in the Qur'an and the Torah and it's "Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayyum" (O Ever-Living One, O Self-Existing One) Huwal Hayyul Qayyum living/self-sufficient!

Allah’s Greatest Name or hidden name

Qur'an
Surah Baqarah, Surah Ali-Imran and Surah Ta-Ha

"Allah! There is no god but He - the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they encompass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory)."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2: 255]

Ayah 2: Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.

  1. Allāh – there is no deity except Him,
    • Allah begins with Tawheed, the Oneness of Allah which is the basic point of difference between Islam and other religions and between a disbeliever and a true Muslim.
    • There is only one God and only He is the Lord of all creation.
    • Allah is refuting the claims of the Christians that believe in trinity or associate any other thing with Allah.
  2. The Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.
    • Allah is ever living who never dies, who sustains everything and everyone.
    • All creations are in need of Allah and totally rely on Him while He is in need of no one and nothing

    • Asma’ bint Yazid bin as-Sakan said: I heard the messenger of Allah say about these two ayat (Allahu la ilaha illa huwal hayyul qayyum [2:255]. Alif laam meem Allahu la ilaha illa huwal hayyul qayyum [3:1-2]) “They contain Allah’s Greatest Name.” [Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]

    • Ibn Marduwyah recorded that Abu Umamah reported that the Prophet said, “Allah’s Greatest Name, if He was supplicated with it, He answers the supplication, is in three Surahs – Al-Baqarah, Al `Imran and Ta-Ha.”

    • “The essence of the argument is that worship means to present oneself before somebody in utter submission and humility. It, therefore, requires that the one who is being worshipped must occupy the highest point of honor and power and who has to be the most perfect from all angles. From this it is obvious that anything which cannot sustain its own being, rather is dependent upon somebody else for its very existence, could hardly claim to have any honor or power in its own right. Therefore, it is crystal clear that all things in this world which have no power to come into being by themselves, nor can they sustain it – be they idols carved in stone, or water, or trees, or angels and apostles – none of them is worthy of worship. The only Being worthy of worship is the One who has always been Alive and Present and shall always live and sustain. Such Being is none but Allah; there is none worthy of worship but Him.” [Ma’ariful Qur’an]

He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
  1. He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth,
    • Allah revealed the Qur’an to Muhammad (S) in truth—there is no doubt or suspicion that it is revealed from Allah. Allah revealed the Qur’an with His knowledge, and the angels testify to this fact, Allah is sufficient as a Witness. [Ibn Kathir]
  2. Confirming that what was before it
    • ‘It’ is referring to the previously divinely revealed Books sent to the Prophets of Allah. [Ibn Kathir]
    • These books testify to the truth of the Qur’an, and the Qur’an also testifies to the truth these Books contained, including the news and glad tidings of Muhammad’s Prophethood and the revelation of the Glorious Qur’an. [Ibn Kathir]
  3. He revealed the Torah
    • To Musa ‘alayhi salaam, the son of ‘Imran
  4. And the Gospel
    • To ‘Isa ‘alayhi salaam, the son of Maryam
  5. What Allah has sent down the Prophet Muhammad (S) is nothing different or peculiar, it is just like Allah had sent down revelations to previous Prophets. All the Prophets brought the same message, and the Qur’an simply confirmed the truth, it did not present any new claim, which could create problems for people in understanding or accepting it. [Ma’ariful Qur’an]

O Ever-Living, Oh Self-Existing for the sake of There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! Verily, I have been among the wrongdoers.

The Living (al-Hayy) is the One who alone has absolute, independent life. The Sustaining (al-Qayyum) is the One who alone needs none to sustain Him, and who sustains all things at all times, in every way. Relief (istighatha) is seeking assistance and salvation from danger or distress.

There are plenty of European elements to modern Hebrew. But -despite what the short term Arab memory will tell you - not all Jews come from European lands. In fact, not all Jews pronounce Hebrew used in liturgy the same way they do Modern Hebrew, even in Israel. And none of that matters, because whatever accent we use today doesn't mean we don't know how the letters were originally pronounced.

Hebrew today is simply, Yiddish with a new Hebrew alphabet.
You've got that wrong. Yiddish is written with Hebrew alphabet, with some letters recycled to act as vowels. Hebrew alphabet is an adaptation of the Aramaic alphabet. The Hebrew alphabet used today is the same alphabet used in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Yiddish isn't Hebrew it's German with German letters and words like vav and and a V, when ancient Hebrew didn't have a V or W in their alphabet.

The Hebrew and Yiddish http://www.jewfaq.org/alephbet.htm
[URL='http://www.jewfaq.org/yiddish.htm']Yiddish
(YID-ish)
The "international language" of Ashkenazic Jews, based primarily on German with words taken from Hebrew and many other languages, and written in the Hebrew Alphabet.[/URL]
The Hebrew and Yiddish languages use a different alphabet than English. The picture below illustrates the Hebrew alphabet, in Hebrew alphabetical order. Note that Hebrew is written from right to left, rather than left to right as in English, so Alef is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and Tav is the last. The Hebrew alphabet is often called the "alefbet," because of its first two letters.
Letters of the Alefbet

If this sounds like Greek to you, you're not far off! Many letters in the Greek alphabet have similar names and occur in the same order (though they don't look anything alike!): Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta … Zeta … Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu … Pi … Rho, Sigma Tau.

The "Kh" and the "Ch" are pronounced as in German or Scottish, a throat clearing noise, not as the "ch" in "chair."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notice it says Hebrew and Yiddish and not just Hebrew because these are different languages.

If you have a German language and words are taken from Hebrew then the pronunciation isn't correct because your language is rooted in the German dialect and is German in form and speech, but uses modern Hebrew words.

Today"s Hebrew is Yiddish, German with different words borrowed from the New age Hebrew alphabet along with other languages.

Today"s Hebrew isn't true ancient Hebrew and the pronunciation isn't correct, do to the Yiddish, German alphabet mixed in and Hebrew and Aramaic being dead Languages

Ancient Hebrew is a lost language that nobody speaks, just like ancient Egyptian writing language. Hieratic script, that's the sister language of the African Asiatic Semitic language family tree and the Scholars have to use Arabic to translate these languages, that nobody speaks and knows it's true meanings and have to use Arabic to try and translate words and find their root word meanings.

This is why when checking the Hebrew Lexicon the definition of certain words will state true meaning unknown and this is a new word.

Your pronunciation of ancient Hebrew isn't correct, yours is based on German and not original Hebrew.

Also ancient Arabic is also different then modern Arabic, but it isn't a dead language.

Even Turkish born speakers of Arabic don't translate or know certain true Arabic meanings like White means pure and that person is actually Black, but is called white meaning a pure man and red is used for meaning a European, also green means Black and there's other words that mean Black like yellow referring to a Black cow.

Because they are Turkish converts to Islam and not true Arabs, who are African also.

Hebrews don't come from Europe and are not European, the original Hebrews are of African origin and so are the Egyptians and they checked the Pharaohs DNA and it's Sub-Saharan African.

But that's another subject altogether, but i have no problem showing 100% factual proof scientifically and historically, also Biblical proof, with Hebrew Lexicon meanings and tribal relations, along with skulls and recreations of ancient Israel skulls and ancient Christian paintings.

That's right. It's not what you said in your previous post, but this one is right.

Yiddish (YID-ish)
The "international language" of Ashkenazic Jews, based primarily on German with words taken from Hebrew and many other languages, and written in the Hebrew Alphabet.
Do you see the big red letters?
Are you aware that Ashkenazic Jews are not the only type of Jews?

The "Kh" and the "Ch" are pronounced as in German or Scottish, a throat clearing noise, not as the "ch" in "chair."
This is only true in the Ashkenazic and Modern Hebrew pronouciation. That means, Jews from Middle Eastern countries that have a letter that parallels the sound of the ḥeth, still pronounce it this way today. The same with other letters.

If you have a German language and words are taken from Hebrew then the pronunciation isn't correct because your language is rooted in the German dialect and is German in form and speech, but uses modern Hebrew words.
There is no "isn't correct" because Modern Hebrew isn't Biblical Hebrew, it's its own language.

Today"s Hebrew is Yiddish, German with different words borrowed from the New age Hebrew alphabet along with other languages.
What you are calling "New Age Hebrew Alphabet" has been in use for upwards of 2,300 years...

Today"s Hebrew isn't true ancient Hebrew and the pronunciation isn't correct, do to the Yiddish, German alphabet mixed in and Hebrew and Aramaic being dead Languages
Today's Hebrew isn't ancient Hebrew and no one says it is. It even has a different name: Modern Hebrew. There are Yiddish influences on the language, I'm sure, although I could not tell you where they are to be found. There is no German alphabet mixed into the Hebrew language. The German alphabet uses the same alphabet as English. Modern Hebrew uses the Hebrew alphabet.

This second script, that according to your image was from 600 BCE, is the script that is used today.

Ancient Hebrew is a dead language that nobody speaks. It is not a lost language, because the Jewish people have preserved it, as we study the Torah in Ancient Hebrew, not in translations.

This is why when checking the Hebrew Lexicon the definition of certain words will state true meaning unknown and this is a new word.
Aside for the names of some animals, this is generally incorrect.

Your pronunciation of ancient Hebrew isn't correct, yours is based on German and not original Hebrew.
That's right. What about my brother in law from Yemen, though? How's his pronunciation?

Also ancient Arabic is also different then modern Arabic, but it isn't a dead language.

Even Turkish born speakers of Arabic don't translate or know certain true Arabic meanings like White means pure and that person is actually Black, but is called white meaning a pure man and red is used for meaning a European, also green means Black and there's other words that mean Black like yellow referring to a Black cow.

Because they are Turkish converts to Islam and not true Arabs, who are African also.
Are you racist?

Hebrews don't come from Europe and are not European, the original Hebrews are of African origin and so are the Egyptians and they checked the Pharaohs DNA and it's Sub-Saharan African.
Yes, I guess you are.

But that's another subject altogether, but i have no problem showing 100% factual proof scientifically and historically, also Biblical proof, with Hebrew Lexicon meanings and tribal relations, along with skulls and recreations of ancient Israel skulls and ancient Christian paintings.
Sorry, I can only deal with one of you "the real ancient Israelites were black" per month and someone else already filled this months quota.

There is no such tribe as a Jew, because there's no J in the Hebrew Language, theses are converts to the Hebrew religion once called Islam, submission to Gods will or the religion of peace and you can find these names in the Old Testament and New Testament.

The tribe i am talking about is the original Hebrew tribe that is related to their cousins the original Arabs and Egyptians and not Greek Hellenistic Jewish converts to today"s religion called Judaism or European Ashkenazi converts or Spanish converts like the Sephardi Jews, or even Asian converts

Sephardi Jews Spanish converts to the Hebrew religion when the African Moors ruled Spain for 900 years.

Languages get lost and true pronunciations are changed do to expanded alphabet and other languages being mixed in with the original language.

Even Geez isn't spoken and now its Amharic.
Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia
Amharic (also known as Amarinya, Amarigna) is a Semitic language spoken in Ethiopia. Amharic is rooted from the Ancient language Geez (Ge'ez). Geez was the official language of Ethiopia before Amharic. Although Geez is ceased to be spoken popularly sometime between 900 and 1200 AD,it continues as a language of Ethiopian Church. Since the 13th century Amharic has been the language of the court and the population in Highlands of Ethiopia. Amharic is the second-most spoken Semitic language in the world, after Arabic. Amharic has four dialectical variations spoken little different from the popular Amharic dialect. (Gojam, Gonder, Wollo, and Menz dialects). According to the 1994 census Amharic is the most commonly spoken language in Ethiopia. It is a native language for over 27 million people in Ethiopia. Amharic is also spoken by over 40,000 people in Israel. It is estimated that Amharic is the language of some 2.7 million emigrants outside Ethiopia. More than 62 million people can speak Amharic globally.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most Jews from the middle east are your Spanish Jewish converts and Ashkenaz Jews also Greek Jews not your true Hebrews, and your true Hebrews are your Ethiopians and African American ancestors of the slave trade who lost their religion and tribal history.

Tacitus on the Jews Tacitus on the Jews (110 ce)
Many assure us that the Jews are descended from those Ethiopians who were driven by fear and hatred to emigrate from their home country

Most of your original true Hebrews excepted Muhammad and the Qur'an.

Modern Hebrew isn't Biblical Hebrew, it's a mixing of different languages and is German in it's roots.
You would have to go to Arabic and Ethiopian Geez to get the real pronunciation of ancient Hebrew words.

Alphabet and pronunciations are to different things altogether, just because you have some of the original alphabet doesn't mean you have the correct language pronunciations.

What about the letters v and others, original Hebrew doesn't have and wasn't written with the vowels, so the original pronunciations are lost and sister languages change also and they added and changed meanings and pronunciations also.

Hebrews haven't preserved anything because the original Hebrews have lost their language due to slavery and accepting Islam and losing their language altogether and only speaking their masters languages English. Any other converts speak bits and pieces of the original and learned this when converting to the Hebrew religion. Like the Hellenistic Greek Jews, Sephardi Jews and Ashkenazi Jews.

Your incorrect examples. Esau The real meaning of "Esau" is unknown, the usual explanation "densely haired" (= "wooded") being very improbable, from the Jewish Encyclopedia.
ESAU - JewishEncyclopedia.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yemenite Jewish people are Mizrahi Jews that migrated to the middle east and north African when Christian crusaders killed and ran out Moors and Spanish Jewish converts your brother in law is, Mizrahi Spanish Jewish convert, like i said before all of your European Jewish religious converts are not original tribes of the Biblical Hebrews.

Also the Turkish rule of the Islamic Empire started lots of converts to Hebrew religion and Turkish converts to Islam.

Most of your original Hebrew tribes either converted to Islam Christianity or totally lost their identify due to the slave trade.

It doesn't mean something specific as a word. It is made up of the "to be" verb in three tenses (past, present and future) to indicate the eternal nature of God. The title points to the attribute of mercy.
Please give a reference to Moses for this meaning.

To Moses? Like a direct quote to what Moses said? Or do you mean to the language Moses wrote the text in which has formulations of the "to be" verb. Are you asserting that the four letters have a different definition and you have a dictionary to prove that? Are you claiming a better knowledge of how Hebrew works? It is hard to address your post if you leave nothing but a short and incomplete request.
