Why don't we quote Jesus more?

Since I've been studying in the States, I've been to a lot of Sunday services, and heard a lot of preachers. I'm actually surprised at how little modern day preachers quote jesus. I've heard them quote Paul and Leviticus and Genesis and Revelation to support their political ideas, but never things like

"Love thy neighbor"

"Love thine enemy"

"Turn the other cheek"

"Blessed are the peacemakers"

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

"What ever you do to the least of these is what you do to me"

"Do not Judge, lest ye be judged"

I've can't seem to remember any "conservative" xtian preacher saying these things despite claiming to be religious.

Do you 'know' or believe?
It is mainly because Jesus did not have a lot to say about how we should impose our own ideas on others or force them to do what we want; for that you either have to go OT or to the words of his 'apostles'

You've noticed.
but I use the highlighted item almost continually.

The one line quotes don't work well.
They are usually followed by someone pointing out the flip side of the same coin.
I had to do so just moments ago.

The same Fellow, is reported to have whipped His own people with a knotted cord...driving them from their own temple...like cattle.

He spoke parables aimed directly to the face of authority.

'Turn the other cheek'....in practice....is not passive.

The reason is , because those preachers are blind. They cannot see the reign of God because they are born of flesh and not spirit. Yet they continue in the dark but say they can see.

"Only the One who comes from God has seen God."

"Who has stood in the counsel of the Lord to see and to hear His words? Who has heeded His words so as to proclaim them".

"The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep."

"No one knows the son except the Father and no one knows the Father except the son and whoever the sons will reveals Him."

"The Lords power will be known to His servants but to His enemies His wrath."

"My chosen ones shall inherit the Land my servants will remain there."

"Blessed are those who hear the word of the Lord and keep it".

"Blessed are the pure of heart ,they will see God."

"Whoever serves me must follow me, where I am that's where my servant will be. Whoever serves me ,Him the Father will honor."

If only you recognized Gods gift, and who it is that’s speaking to you, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water. Anyone who drinks the water I give him will never become thirsty the water I give him shall be like a well inside him rising up to provide eternal life.

In my opinion we quote the man too much. There are a lot of quotes out there that we don't use on a daily basis.

Agree with Besart, what sense is there to quote Jesus(p) is you do not even follow it..

John 8:28
John 14:28
Luke 18:19
Matthew 24:36

Sorry for this but i had to do it:

Exodus 4:22
Jeremiah 31:9
Psalm 2:7

Unfortunately true. It seems too many leading political figures, and some preachers, cherry-pick the Bible to fit their political agenda instead of using the Bible to guide them in the secular realm of politics.

This is why some will quote Leviticus when arguing against homosexuality while they are eating a BBQ pork sandwich or a shrimp cocktail.
