Why is it in Horror Films?

What is up with people in horror films? Everytime the monster or killer is coming they just stand there gaping in horror as the creature (who is very slow) catches up to them? I would run...if you are going to be slow you deserve to be eaten I say.

Agreed. If you want one that doesn't do this try Return of the Living Dead. It's a tongue in cheek salute to Romero's zombie movies with a lot of subtle jokes mixed in. (It also adds elements from Romero's the Crazies which was the first viral Zombie movie.) Some interesting twists are that the zombies are fast, very, very fast, and nearly impossible to kill, no head shots this time. Oh, and watch for Burt and Ernie from Sesame Street, they have a major roll. (I kid you not) I think its on Hulu for free.

I absolutely love horror movies (although I don't care for the computerized special effects of the new ones). And I have to concur with the OP: If a walking corpse, the blob, a werewolf, vengeful spirit or serial killer were headed my way, I wouldn't stand around and think about it--I'D RUN! And I wouldn't wear high heels, either. Never wear high heels in a horror movie, because then you trip and fall, and then rather than getting up immediately and RUNNING, lie and scream helplessly as the slow-moving zombie closes in on you and your jugular.

Because it would be very boring if everybody just ran away at full speed and there wasn't any action to entertain the crowd.

Another thing, when you move into a haunted house and the ghost or evil spirit tells you to leave, shouldn't you just move?

Ahh that's where the Skeptic foil comes in to tell the protagonist it's all in their head ;)

If you've not seen it I recommend dog soldiers. It's got a lot of black humour in it and at times you just think "Yeah that's pretty much what I'd do."
