Why is Jesus so famous? (Challenge to atheists)

Have you ever asked yourself, why Is Jesus so famous?

He was just a random carpenter in some distant town in the middle of palestine, he was not wealthy, he had no political power, he didn’t make any contributions to science or art, he didn’t travel much, etc.

So why is Jesus so famous? How did a random carpenter/ (or fisherman) became the most important and influential person in the whole world.

For Christians that question is very easy to answer, “He resurrected” (+some other miracles) if a random guy from Palestine resurrects tomorrow he would become famous.

But from the point of view of an unbeliever, (someone who rejects the claim that Jesus resurrected) what alternative explanation do you offer? How could someone like Jesus become so famous and influential?

It happens.
Do you think Hercules is actually a demi-God?
Do you think Zoroaster was a prophet?
Do you think Muhammed was a prophet?

What impact did secular figures like Constantine have on Christianity and it's spread?

Some people get what they might not deserve (a general statement). Chance, and thanks to Paul and Constantine. Paul resurrected Jesus.

White Europeans took him for their God and then went out to conquer the rest of the world and brought their God with them.

Took him or were forced to take a Middle-Eastern God in place of their own Gods and Goddesses? Yahweh was not their God.

I don't know how much force was involved though obviously some was.
Early on Rome took him and brought him along as they conquered the rest of Europe.

Why is anyone famous? Why is Buddha famous? Why is Hitler famous? Why is Confucius famous? Why is Stalin Famous? Why is Caligula Famous? Why is Mahatma Ghandi famous?

There are some people that simply end up influencing history, and sometimes it is unexpected. Confucius was a nobody during his lifetime, much like Jesus was.

His name and his real mission got spun in to Paul's (and others') idea of a religion.
Christianity is it's name, and Jesus mostly got turned in to Christ, a name and word he never knew.

Not in the early church.
Even before the present New Testament was fully formed (in the days of the Bible of Marcion) the Orthodoxy had already declared the Marcionite Church (which was equal in size) heretical. Not accepting dissidents from Church dogma started at the very beginning of Christianity, several generations after the mission of Jesus was abandoned.

In a word. Constantine.

Then from the 16th century on the fact that the empire builders and colonizers and slave traders were Christians and Muslims.

Why is Muhammad so famous?

Jesus is so popular because of Emperor Constantine I 's buy in, or conversion, to Christianity. Once Christianity had the power of Empire to enforce belief, there was no going back.
Any particular details to the life of Jesus were immaterial.

Constantine seems to be the obvious answer.

What in the history of Christianity do you think requires that Christ be crucified?

Constantine? Really?

You are talking about 300+ years after Jesus died. (Jesus was already famous by that date)

Imagine a charlatan faking miracles in the middle east today….how likely is that an emperor/king/president would end up worshiping (or even knowing about his existence) this charlatan 300 years from now?

There is an easy answer, maybe Jesus wasn’t a charlatan, if today someone performs real clear and unambiguous miracles in the middle of Palestine he is likely to gain many followers that will grow in number long after his dead, and eventually become famous.

And how would you know "if today someone performs real clear and unambiguous miracles in the middle of Palestine" ? What evidence would you require?

Not an easy answer considering the lack of first hand witnesses at the time of the life of Jesus, There is absolutely no documented miracles such as claimed for Jesus. in the past or today. Though throughout all history many claim miracles.
