They are very busy. They have social things to do, and they have games and other entertainments.I heard so many times that new generations aren't so interested in reading as their parents and many of them don't like to read at all. Is it really so widespread and worse than it was in previous century? What causes this in your opinion?

I'm sure that the causes of this have already been studied by properly academic methodologies. I'm not up on that research, but in general terms, children pick up the habits that are encouraged or instilled within them by their primary role models. Parents are typically on the list of primary role models, though not always. If a child has an accessible role model that encourages reading as a regular behavior, they'll tend to do it too. Put really simply, if parents don't read to their kids, kids won't read.

Lack of Interest. I remember all the Golden Books and little books at my parents bought for me. I didn't learn to read Because I had to read. I learned to read because I was so curious what the stories were all about and I wanted to know more.I heard so many times that new generations aren't so interested in reading as their parents and many of them don't like to read at all. Born in 91 and grew up on the net, as it were.. Admittedly there is a large amount of laziness. But even still do you people not have school? I literally learnt how to research from encyclopaedias and other sources in like Primary School. Because we always had to use multiple sources in assignments, even as kids. Its mostly laziness, those born since the 1990's have always had the internet to spoon feed them, more times than not, misinformation. They have never to read and research multiple books to learn or explore an idea like us older folks that had to make due with encyclopedias, journals, almanacs, dictionaries, etc.
An example: There is a meme going around about how water is not wet. I have had multiple teenagers argue till their blue in the face that water is not wet because of a video they saw. But when I ask them to prove it and being me dry water they go slack jawed and wide eyed as they struggle to comprehend basic common sense.
Don't read? HA! This is where I like to display a third of my collection I need another bookshelf so I can put the physical copies of the rest up but so be it because reading is power.
LeVar Burton would be proud of me
