why praying is a waste of time

what are you praying for , why do you pray , why do none of your prayers come true, does it sometimes feel pointless, i suppose a little pray and positivity never harmed anyone , but its still a waste of time,

If nothing else, prayer can bring peace of mind, which I think is a great payoff.

I pray to worship God, I pray that he will hurry along the messiah and all that he will bring, I pray that God will help us to understand that we are one people and we were not created to kill each other. And I think my prayers are coming true; the generation that is coming after me fills me with hope that they will leave this world in a much better place than my generation will give it to them in.

I see it as being neither pointless nor a waste of time.

I pray to go into a deep state of contemplation and meditation. It helps me greatly and I don't really care if others think it's a waste of time.

i too sometimes think it is pointless not because i think it doesnt work but because it would contradict with the love towards and trust in god.best prayer is in the form of gratitude. it doesnt contradict the other two and still can be a form of prayer and worship.
also uttering correct prayer other than gratitude is very problematic because god knows what is best for you and others than you know for yourself or others.

I don't pray as I'm pretty much non-theistic (agnostic), but I do meditate. At services, I use the prayers pretty much as a "mantra".

See? This is why every morning I pray to God to make me an athiest. If I believed in Him, maybe he would.

It isn't a waste of time to me, it's the way I talk to God. If a person doesn't believe in God, then it would certainly be a waste of time (I don't know if you believe in God or not, I am speaking generally).

do you ever belive your conversation with god is falling on deaf ears, he never answers you?

Something is not a "waste of time" unless the specific individual engaged in the endeavor doesn't find it valuable. In other words, whether or not something is a "waste of time" is fully dependent on a person's value system and no universal declarations an be made about what is and isn't worth spending time on.

please explain?

It's self explanatory. I pray for something and it happens or works out. People who don't believe in God would probably call it a coincidence, as I would have back when I was an agnostic. Mostly, I don't pray for tangible things-like a car or something, but for other people about various things.

God is not Santa Claus. My cousin once said he didn't believe in God because he prayed for a car and didn't get one. the way I see it, God will help people find a way to get a car, not just have one drop out of nowhere. But that's just me.
