Why should I believe in your religion and faith?

It's easy to have that perspective if you embrace religious pluralism as absolute truth. I don't mean to offend anyone, but to me...religious pluarlism cannot be absolute truth and is an illusion to the reality of the truth.

Thats where your wrong I am not saying my religion is the truth..... however it is what I believe perhaps your religion is a illusion? Your basing your faith on the fact that man got the bible right when they wrote it. Good luck with that.....)(

<Man does not perceive "absolutes".

"As for the reference in The Hidden Words regarding the Covenant entered into on Mount Párán, this signifieth that in the sight of God the past, the present and the future are all one and the same--whereas, relative to man, the past is gone and forgotten, the present is fleeting, and the future is within the realm of hope."

But as no religion or faith can be proven true then all religions have just as much validity as others. Why is it so hard for you to understand that no religion has the market cornered when it comes to your precious "truth"?

How many truths can there be. Do you reject the idea that there is One True God above all other gods?

In hunting for the truth, it is imperative that we listen to someone who thinks like Peter and the apostles in the bible.

1 Pet 1:20
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation

1 Cor 1:10

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1 Cor 1:17

17For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Do you have any questions?

The God revealed in the Bible proclaims to be the One True God, and other gods are false gods, or idols with no power. What convinced you that the God of the Bible to be who He claims to be? What kind of revelation or proof does He give all mankind to know God is God?

I believe there is only ONE God.
I believe that God reveals Himself in but ONE religion through many chosen Prophets at different times, in different places.

I believe there is only ONE race of man to whom God reveals Himself through those messengers.

John 7:17

"If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."

The doctrine is his proof. once you accepted the doctrine and followed the word, you will see the mysteries of the bible happening before your very eyes.

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

In the world that we know of? who would genuinely care for the widows in their affliction? will anyone "Care" without receiving anything in return? who will do this just beause it is written as a doctrine?

Eph 3:20

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us"

God's power worketh in those that do exceeding abudantly above that we ask or think.
meaning if i find a congeragation that truthfull does James 1:27. that is one clue. but there are several doctrines.

3 John 1:7

"Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles."

Who will do this just because it is written? is it not more convenient just to take money from anyone? but if you find people who preaches the gospel at their own expense, you will think what motivates these people? hence if you see this you will again say " The power that worketh in us"

now, as if further showing you with the living word of God, the people who does the things above belong to the group below:

1 Cor 1:20-21, 26-27

'Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe."

26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

These are only a few of many other "revelations" that i have seen happen in this days.

I want to explore spiritual things that cannot be seen.
I'm not sure this is the spiritual insight you were looking for to help your journey, but the Roman Catholic Church has more holidays than anyone else and we serve booze every day of the week.;)

Gleanings from the Writings of Baha`u'llah, pp. 59-60

"Beware, O believers in the Unity of God, lest ye be tempted to make any distinction between any of the Manifestations of His Cause, or to discriminate against the signs that have accompanied and proclaimed their Revelation. This indeed is the true meaning of Divine Unity, if ye be of them that apprehend and believe this truth. Be ye assured, moreover, that the works and acts of each and every one of these Manifestations of God, nay whatever pertaineth unto them, and whatsoever they may manifest in the future, are all ordained by God, and are a reflection of His Will and Purpose. Whoso maketh the slightest possible difference between their persons, their words, their messages, their acts and manners, hath indeed disbelieved in God, hath repudiated His signs, and betrayed the Cause of His Messengers. Do you think the resurrection is the convincing proof of Christianity? Anyone can claim to be God, but how many people have been raised from the dead throughout human history. I think the strength of Christianity rests with the resurrection. If the resurrection can be proven to be false, you no longer have the Christian Faith. 2,000 years later, humanity has not been able to disprove the resurrection of Christ, and millions still believe that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

  1. After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
  2. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead." - Acts

The resurrection is part of the whole....it is the mystery of the " i will rebuild Gods temple in three days" verse

Fish-Hunter,

I invite you to explre Islam if you are huntng for the truth.

The main principle in Islam is believeing in One Creator for all the creation.

We associate no partner in divinity or worship with the Creator..no human, animal or any of the creation.

:D Hey, if we're thinking along those lines...in Wicca you have 8 religious holidays a year and instead of going to church every week...we hold rituals only once to twice a month (depending on if you do full and new moons or just full moons) ;) ...and to boot...we have no real marriage requirements for sex. Free (safe) love baby! :D:p

Sure, let's start with Islam's understanding of Jesus Christ. Does Islam believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh who died and rose again? I have read parts of the Quran, but understanding Christianity in greater depth. Therefore, it is easier to contrast Islam with Christianity for me. I hope that is okay.

No problem

We believe that Jesus Christ was a great messenger sent to the people of Israel to guide them to the truth. We believe he was a human being - but not God or son of God just like all the other prophets before him.

We also believe that Jesus Christ rose to heaven and he will return back again to Earth where he will fight the false messiah before dying like any other human being.

There are many surahs in the Qur'an that speak about Jesus Christ. You can read the first verses of surah of 'Mary'. Here are they. They are self-explanatory:

1Kaf. Ha. Ya. 'Ain. Sad. 2(This is) a recital of the Mercy of thy Lord to His servant Zakariya. 3Behold! he cried to his Lord in secret, 4Praying: "O my Lord! infirm indeed are my bones, and the hair of my head doth glisten with grey: but never am I unblest, O my Lord, in my prayer to Thee! 5"Now I fear (what) my relatives (and colleagues) (will do) after me: but my wife is barren: so give me an heir as from Thyself,- 6"(One that) will (truly) represent me, and represent the posterity of Jacob; and make him, O my Lord! one with whom Thou art well-pleased!" 7(His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before." 8He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren and I have grown quite decrepit from old age?" 9He said: "So (it will be) thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: I did indeed create thee before, when thou hadst been nothing!'" 10(Zakariya) said: "O my Lord! give me a Sign." "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three nights, although thou art not dumb." 11So Zakariya came out to his people from him chamber: He told them by signs to celebrate Allah.s praises in the morning and in the evening. 12(To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth, 13And piety (for all creatures) as from Us, and purity: He was devout, 14And kind to his parents, and he was not overbearing or rebellious. 15So Peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 16Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East. 17She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. 18She said: "I seek refuge from thee to ((Allah)) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah." 19He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son. 20She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?" 21He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us':It is a matter (so) decreed." 22So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place. 23And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!" 24But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee; 25"And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee. 26"So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, 'I have vowed a fast to ((Allah)) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being'" 27At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought! 28"O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!" 29But she pointed to the babe. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?" 30He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet; 31"And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live; 32"(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable; 33"So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"! 34Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. 35It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is. 36Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight. 37But the sects differ among themselves: and woe to the unbelievers because of the (coming) Judgment of a Momentous Day! 38How plainly will they see and hear, the Day that they will appear before Us! but the unjust today are in error manifest! 39But warn them of the Day of Distress, when the matter will be determined: for (behold,) they are negligent and they do not believe! 40It is We Who will inherit the earth, and all beings thereon: to Us will they all be returned.

"A man who says, "I want to change, tell me how to", seems very earnest, very serious, but he is not. He wants an authority whom he hopes will bring about order in himself. But can authority ever bring about inward order? You may see the truth of this intellectually but can you actually apply it so that your mind no longer projects any authority, the authority of a book, a teacher, a wife or husband, a parent, a friend or of society? Because we have always functioned within the pattern of a formula, the formula becomes the ideology and the authority; but the moment you really see that the question, "How can I change?" sets up a new authority, you have finished with authority for ever."
