Wildflowers

WILDFLOWERS

I love wildflowers, much more than I love an organized garden. These are the wildflowers that you can find when you go hiking on Mount Bjelasnica, one of the mountains of Sarajevo.

Which ones do you have where you live?

The first and most important flower is the Lillium Bosniacum, the Golden Bosnian Lily. It is found nowhere else on earth and has, for more than a millenium, been the symbol of our people - whether on the crown of a Christian Queen, or in place of the star on a Muslim crescent/star flag - it's meant "Bosnian".

Sorry, the wrong picture went with the Lillium Bosniacum introduction. This is the photo that was posted, and I've placed the Lillium Bosniacum in the first post as noted.

I love them too! I love our wildflowers more than any garden! I love how random they are? Some grow in huge fields, so many the field looks that color - others grow in little rock cracks all by themselves.

There's a lot of different kinds too, when you really think about it. Just hiking you don't notice because most of them are purple/blue and kind of look the same. But really take your time and there's dozens!
