Windows 10....Evil Cancer

Windows 10 makes me loose more faith in humanity. It's privacy killing box that doesn't like to think too hard. Functionally it's an improvement over 8 (which really isn't saying much), but I find it awkward how they made the Start menu, and I don't like all the crap off to the side. I also hate the laziness of shortening "Programs" into "apps." I want to hit the person who decided to do that with the OED, and an English text book for every grade from preschool through doctorates.

My husband hates windows 10. He doesn't want any of our computers to have it. The stuff about it doesn't sound good at all.

If it wasn't for compatibility I wouldn't use Windows at all. A good chunk of stuff I can do on Linux, but some stuff I have to have Windows for, mostly for Word - Word doesn't like formatting files from Libre (the Linux word processor), and Libre doesn't like formatting files from Word. Between school and a slowly growing writing and editing portfolio, I was forced to admit that I am stuck with at least one computer having Windows, which tends to be my main computer as I do a lot of PC gaming and Linux is hit-and-miss with compatibility.
But Windows 10 just sucks anyway you look at it. It has all this Cortana stuff (which makes me laugh since they got the name from the Halo game series), it doesn't like doing things it normally doesn't do, but it loves gathering and sending your information.

You don't really know about the bad stuff behind windows 10 do you?

When it first tried that on me I ejected my computer's battery and then restarted it and used boot options to restart my system from a system image on my flashdrive. Then I denied windows permission to download or install anything on my computer until I lift the restriction and that's how its going to stay until they stop this hiatus.

It is unfortunate that DirectX12 is only supported on Windows 10 and upwards, and I'm a video gamer. I'm not really complaining about Windows 10, I'm just feeling for you guys for not liking it, specially if you are video gamers like me. Windows 7 was doing so very well. I use my own material classification and make labels for them on the desktop; i.e. Applications, Videos, My Documents, Audio, Games, Temporary Items, showing This PC icon on desktop, and showing Control Panel icon on desktop. All except the last two are shortcuts of their respective folders found originally on the 4 storage HDD's of a total capacity of 14TB (an SSD is used exclusively for the OS). I never relied on the Start Menu that much, now or before. If I want something, I just use the Search Windows feature right next to the Start Menu icon (looks like a magnifier).

We really need to improvise, since we won't achieve anything feeling bad in this subject. I did that and things went just fine. Life is beautiful :D

Well, after installing the latest batch of windows 10 upgrades the battery on my laptop will no longer charge.

Apparently, this is a common problem: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=battery won't charge after windows 10 upgrade

After reading a few pages of what sound like wild guesses at the Microsoft community site, it's starting to get pretty clear that nobody has any idea how to fix this other than to switch to Linux altogether, which is probably going to be my next move.

I have Windows 10 at my office PC and it is a disaster. It seems that I'm in no control over my computer anymore. :(

Be careful, upgrading factory built computers, specially the laptops of them, to Windows 10 is a very risky thing. Compatibility is an issue if you don't know how to professionally deal with computer parts individually, and some specially built in parts, like unified integrated with dedicated grafix could even be not compatible with it and cause serious trouble like it did me.
