Have any of you members had wishes come true, even in the most 'Roundabout kind of way' ?
As a mid-twenty year old, I had decided that what I hoped for out of life was the following (not necessarily in this order)
1. Marriage
2. Children
3. the ability to afford my wife to stay at home to look after our children (and I am not being sexist or male dominant here; it was my wife's wish as well)
4. being able to shuffle finances to give my wife the opportunity to follow her own path ie Educate herself better through open University - travel - if that was her wish. ( She never had much of an opportunity to savour youth through various circumstances.
As I have said before, I had to be retired at the very early age of 44, with a mediocre but adequate pension, which, combined with our savings made by living as frugal a life as possible), gave me the ability to still offer my wife that original wish.
The amusing , and interesting part of this is that my wife decided that she really was not interested in persuing the 'learning' option, but seems happy enough doing the oddpart time job here and there, and 'being there' for her Mum who suffers from a long list of diseases - the main ones being epilepsy and enlarged heart problems; she also underwent an operation last year for Cancer of the bowel from which, it seems, she has made a remarkable recovery.
So what happened? The wish that I had 'chased' for my wife was given to me - and here I am, making the most of it.
