"Witching" for water

How's it work?
I know you don't have to be a witch to witch for water, but...

The diviner isn't practicing witchcraft is s/he??
Is the person doing the divining tapping their subconsciousness?
Their psychic abilities?
Becoming one with the earth and the minerals in it and focusing her or his energy?

Many years ago I was introduced to the process and actually tried it. It worked, but I never did understand it. Now I'm curious....

If you tried it and that is how it felt for you...then yes...that is practicing witchcraft. For what I highlighted in red is essentially what practicing witchcraft is. Among other things;) .

People of many different beliefs, Divine for water and other minerals. Few can agree how it works.
but luckily it does. But some people are much better at it than others.

I have 'divined' for various things in the past. Both my Grandfather and father were able to do it as well - even though Dad was a very reluctand diviner - he had his feet firmly on the ground, as an engineer, and did'nt 'like' subjects such as divining, even though his Father did it on a regular basis.

As far as I understand, Dad only ever did it the once - when a company for which he was working for in Africa was looking for water- which they needed badly; Dad said "I'll try divining rods for a laugh", and bingo, they drilled where he said, and there was water!

I don't put divining as anything to do with Magic though; I view it much more as a case of focussing so hard on the 'thought and imagery of water', using rods that magnify any movement, however small, into a signal that the thought which you have 'projected' - much like a radar, has hit the same 'signal' given off by water, and bounced back - the rod's animation is just a nerve impulse of that 'returned thought'. Make sense?:)

I tried " witching " for water once when I was a younging . :) Held the wand over a river and didn't feel anything . But I did get a feel after awhile , and actually found water . But then , my arms may have just gotten tired . ;) Hey , we aren't all good at all things .

It is an interesting craft . My father was quite good at it .
