World war 3 how..?

Just as a thought experiment.. lets assume that World war 3 is going to happen (Not talking the conflict in with Ukraine / Russian), but just generally speaking.

What event would you imagine would / could lead to WW3, will it be due to religion? economics? territorial? a "sick" person sort of like Hitler or whatever you can think of could trigger it? Also take into account, that such war would potentially mean that nukes would be fired as well.

Also who do you think it would be between (Only major countries / alliances, maybe new ones etc.)

Global wars tend to be wars between alliances. All I can see happening is Russia and China as an alliance against everyone else. China has too much interest in power and money so it would not be a good move for them unless there was a global boycott on their products. Russia, well Putin as crazy as trump, just smarter. Difficult to predict.

Iran sees an existential threat, & nukes Israel.
USA begins retaliation against Iran by wiping out all military
assets, & any civilians in the vicinity.
Either Russia or China intervene to defend Iran.
Then it gets really messy.

Russia attacks Ukraine. Some commander on the ground fires at American troops in Poland who respond in kind. Both sides escalate from there.

NB: I don't think it will happen but WW3 by misadventure is the most likely scenario as I see it.

My second choice would be a variant of @Revoltingest But unlike his Iran would retaliate conventionally but all out causing massive destruction in Israel. Israel then nukes a city in Iran. The US and Russia intervene on opposite sides "and then it gets really messy".

I'd vote for a government that was interested in moving all of housing and infrastructure underground, or in space. Then that might parse the nuclear weapon problem, rendering them less effective

They are chosen.

Then humans apply the number status when it's happening.

So allow free will it's choice.

We have lived in danger the moment world war was chosen.
