Would Men Rather Meet A Bear Or A Woman In The Workplace?

I recently heard (NPR, I vaguely recall) that many men are
having difficulty dealing with women in the workplace.
How to act without offending them? How careful to be?

Personally, I've been an equal opportunity
offender in various jobs. My poor social skills
have annoyed both men & women alike.

I found it easiest in the workplace when it was decided I was neither male nor female. Then everyone was at ease with me. I wasn't either; I had my own group.

In the current workplace(home), I'd prefer a bear. He(or she) might actually be tough enough to help out.

I suspect that your personality enables
you to get along well with a great many.
Not all of us are gifted that way.

I would think that the risks of men being overly cautious in their treatment of women in the workplace would be considerably less harmful to the company than the risks of harassment going unaddressed.

I do feel for men who may be misunderstood due to a missed social cue, but I'm doubtful of any media presenting these cultural changes as a concern or over-correction.

I'd be more concerned about the women's behavior than mine. I can control my behavior. I can't control theirs.

As a manager, I've been accused of advancing a woman simply because she is seen as "more attractive" by other women regardless of her qualifications.
Women can be pretty ruthless in the workplace.

To work around easily triggered people (women
more so than men) is annoying. The worst was
when a female tenant accused me of "peeping".
She was friends with an employee of mine, whom
she told she thought it was a funny prank to play.
I'd never seen or had any contact with her.
It's also been a problem for my male workers,
who'd endure exhibitionism by female tenants.

A bear won't file a complaint with Human Resources.
It will only kill you.
This comment makes me uncomfortable. Are you saying it's worse for someone to not harass women keeping your hands to yourself so folk dont report you then to die? And that that's comparable to a women choosing the bear because they dont want to be raped? Because that's the vibe i get from this.

Reading the articke i agree with what it says. If a man is scared of how to behave around women at work well thats on the men. Yall know how to behave. Yall know what sexual harassment is. Why so scared of being accused of it? False accusations are rare from what I've heard tho it's been a while since I read up on how common those were. It's awful sure false accusations and anyone who makes one needs to be held accountable but again rare it happens. If men would stop look at themselves and held each other accountable and you know not harass women maybe the fear of women in the workplace would go down a bit.

It's humor. Comparing death by mauling vs
dealing with the Human Resources Department.

If it must be explained,
then it can't be explained.
Nah go on. Explain why it should be funny that saying a man being reported to HR for harassment is worse then death by bear in the same way a woman being raped is worse then being mauled by a bear.

If it ruins the joke to explain it must not have had a good punchline

The joke will be appreciated by those with
Human Resources (formerly called "Personnel").
Especially for fans of the movie "The Enforcer".

Never seen that movie. I just find it crass to compare the two situations and pass it off as it's just a joke like you didn't just imply a comparison of a man keeping their hands to themselves and not being reported to HR as being as bad as a women being raped. Implying both situations is worse then death.

I didn't imply what you claim.
Let's keep the inferences honest, & not hyperbolic.
