you 're spot on with your analysis and honestly i meant the taste of materialism to me felt like a prison of insatiable never ending desires.
once again , i described how it felt to me and wasn't intended for you :)
im a work in progress till this life ends and might carry on for next few lives ..
I got no negative vibes from your posts; I liked them.

I did not know the expression "anal retention".... obsession with details (religious people can have it also). I used to be like that. Since I focus more on "not critcizing others", for me the need for details has gone down a lot.

When others belittle or are disrepectful I see myself going into detail to defend myself. But gradually I discover most of the time even this is a waste of time and energy, as humans generally don't change habits easily; makes life a lot easier

RF has been quite useful. Seeing/reading so many views of very different people, all trying their best, makes it easier to "agree to disagree" for me.

its definitely my personal observation and it doesn't come from any books n such.. so it doesn't apply to others. there was a time when i was trapped and there was a time when i was free , at the moment im trying to escape from the trap... if you see that tiger on my profile its trying to blast out of something.. lol so i do feel just like that ..dying to get a taste of freedom outside the trap of maya..

Quotes from Sukhmani sahib GGS :
(laakh karoree banDh na parai.) Acquiring hundreds of thousands and millions, your desires shall not be contained. (har kaa naam japat nistarai. )Chanting the Name of the Lord, you shall find release. (anik maa-i-aa rang tikh na bujhaavai). By the countless pleasures of Maya, your thirst shall not be quenched.

(chhootas naahee oobh pa-i-aal.) You cannot escape to the heavens, or to the nether regions,( mohi bi-aapahi maa-i-aa jaal.) if you are entangled in emotional attachment and the net of Maya.

Ifn you'd just figure out that the trap of maya is
in taking that stuff seriously.

What has it done for you, so far? "Dying to...." ?

Personal flaws are best kept to one's self.

I'd rather you not "share" those, nor anything
about "maya".

Ifn ya dont want to even for a second consider that
maya-maya is just a bucket of garbage, dont.
Wrestle chimeras to your heart's content.

how can you be sure ? have you FOLLOWED the guru's teachings? even 1? if not then do not claim its garbage...just cause you said it doesn't make it garbage.. no matter how many times you try to deny it , doesn't effect the truth.
guru nanak ji's claim is that even if you followed 1 of his teachings you would receive help from within , something will get invoked . so if you have never chanted or asked for god's help from within please don't malign it for others.
the first criteria is to have the attitude to follow.. i.e humility.

"affect" the truth. :D

And the "truth" is.....?

You are not going to consider for half a second
that I might be right, are you.

Every cult thinks it has the Truth.

I will send good wishes for your eventual
recovery.
well atleast now a i have a friend who cares about me, time travel or not i have someone who wants to pull me out of a cult that i never joined.

BTW i know you will never read the geeta or GGS.. i know you wouldn't... i am 100% sure you won't.and you will continue to discourage others despite you've never read or tried to follow it.

im not insulting anyone .honestly.
I disagree. Here's the proof:
when you're materialistic your brain frequency is anal retentive lol , i ve felt both sides enough to know this.
Tell me this isn't you marking people who don't feel "light and fuzzy like a wind-blown feather" every time a nice elderly man makes some pithy remarks with a twinkle in his eye as "materialistic." And then pushing it a little further to say that since they are materialistic, they are then also "anal retentive lol". You setup a dichotomy. On one side is you and all your buddies who swoon over funny old men who attempt to sound wise, and you grant that scenario all positivity, feathers and flowers. And then on the other hand you put anyone who doesn't feel that way into the box "materialistic" and "anal retentive."

This is precisely the behavior that makes me stop and think, "hmmm... well, that person apparently isn't on the right path." And makes me likely to ignore any of the teachings of the religion/belief-set you're touting outright. I don't need to be blinded to my own ability to insult others - sounds like weakness to me. And yes, I am insulting you. But guess what I am doing? I'm doing it directly, without subterfuge, and without deluding myself. And yes, those are the things I think you are engaged in based on your quoted post. And no, saying "I've been there" doesn't excuse the false dichotomy, nor the fact that you basically poo-pooed anyone who doesn't trip over themselves onto their face because some guy likes to talk like he knows what he's talking about a little too excessively.

I have not seen many on RF take such responsibility for their words. Hence the winner. Is that what GGS teaches? If so, I like to read some. My Master taught me similar:
"Only speak if it improves the silence"

GGS is magical, i cannot describe how magical it is.. just try sukhmani sahib first.. and see what happens to you internally.. within 1 week , krishna /govind/hari /har/raam all these names are included in it.. its like a map of all guru's teachings in his times complied in one book.

if you humbly chant the names given in it... do you know punjabi? if yes then use this vid
.. if not then http://www.rajkaregakhalsa.net/downloads/Gurbani/Sukhmani Sahib - Eng-Rom-Gurm.pdf

Thanks for sharing and reminding of the power in the Lords Name.

Sounds beautiful. I don't know Punjabi, but I am used to Sanskrit verses. I read 2 pages of the english pdf; very uplifting and inspiring.

I have been doing lots of chanting after I met my Master. Has been magic for me also. Beyond words and understanding, the power of the Lord's name is great.

I read Yoga Vasistha and even "going back in time" becomes possible if one is very advanced (or a bit of Guru Grace).

I just Love this Eastern Wisdom

Open question

Although I would find it deeply fascinating to go back to Jerusalem during the time of Jesus, I would not give up my modern life to do so. I would expect that the gospels do not tell the story of what literally happened but I would love to be a witness to what did happen and how the gospel authors found their inspiration to write their stories. I would want, most of all, to come back and share this knowledge in my original timeline so not getting to go back is a deal breaker.
