Would You Rather...

Would you rather be wrong and happy, or right and miserable?
I think there is a time and place for both. No point in being right and losing friends or making their lives miserable, but sometimes one can't avoid being miserable when one tries to understand things and they just make one miserable - as many of us no doubt feel toward the Trump presidency. And much the same, for me, applies to religions, since I can't bring myself to believe they do more good than harm. But that is just me.

On the other hand, there are plenty of things to be happy about, and if one loses a bit of focus on the bits that aren't then life can be bearable.

Kind of tricky question though.
IF being happy is a goal in life THEN one might think "wrong+happy" is the best of the 2.
But "being" wrong AND happy indicates the person does not feel his conscience. Would not be my choice.

BUT:

Hypothetical: I am in a miserable situation (immense torture)
I don't know, but it might be very much possible I would choose "getting out" (misery), even by doing "wrong", just to be without pain (happy)

I am just realistic in this. There is a limit to physical pain I can endure, and I can only hope I never get in such a situation

This is a good point. There are circumstances where I'd probably choose to be happy rather than be so miserable that I'm suicidal, for example.

In other cases, I care more about "what works" than "what's correct." For example, I sometimes enjoy reiki videos on YouTube. Now, personally I don't think reiki is helping to magically move my energy or whatever. But dang if it isn't relaxing. So if the whole thing is a placebo...I don't really care. The stakes aren't high for me to play along and enjoy the video, even if the person creating the content really thinks they're influencing my chi somehow.

If ignorance is bliss, does that necessarily mean that knowledge creates pain?

I don't think 'wrong' ever ends well for anyone.....so what's wrong with being 'right' and 'happy' even if you have to make some sacrifices to do so? Then there are no issues with conscience which robs people of happiness anyway.

I can never understand how people can ever be happy by taking someone else's happiness away from them....like cheating on your mate for example. :(
