Wow! Someone with Actual training in science set to Chair the Science Committee!

A scientist on a science committee? That's not right! Science is too religious to decide on science issues. There needs to be a big brother watching over it.

Well we must be grateful for small mercies, I suppose. This woman is 83 yrs old and has no science degree. Her qualification is in nursing.

However, given the racial discrimination when she was growing up, I can imagine she might be someone who could and should have achieved a science degree, if the opportunities had been available to a black woman in those days.
I'd say it is a vast improvement over this former Science Committee member:

A scientist heading up the Science committee? Oh my gods! My gods! We're on the verge of becoming Europeans!

A guy on a science committee really said something that stupid? That's insane. Must be one of the dumbest things I've heard all year.

What's he called? Hiram Z Facepalm III? :D

Oh I see it says on the pic - sorry I didn't read it properly at first. But what a jerk.

I see from this: Pregnancy from rape - Wikipedia that some studies show the likelihood of conception as a result of rape may even be higher than with consensual sex, for poorly understood reasons.

Also, interestingly, that it seems to be an ancient myth in some cultures that pregnancy requires a woman to enjoy sex and thus is not possible in cases of "genuine" rape, this being used as a convenient way to justify divorcing a wife who has been raped!! So this antediluvian idiot still believes that - amazing. (As a side issue, I have read that some raped women complain of having an orgasm in spite of themselves during rape and get very disturbed psychologically as a result of guilt induced by this. Clearly it doesn't mean they enjoy the experience: it's just a reflex of the body.)
