This is a poll to discover what the world really thinks is the most appropriate name for our almighty Father who's son is the promised messiah, Yeshua (Jesus).

DON'T FORGET TO SELECT YOUR CHOICE BECAUSE REPLYING DOESN'T ADD YOUR VOTE.

This morning my daughter asked me why we use so many terms for Jesus...I told her that every language has their own term for the name....But should we have so many? A name is very important to some. Should we all use His name as first given to us in just one language...is just saying God the same? I believe in the trinity...so the 3 are one...but should we all call them the same thing? You must have given some thought to this to pose this question...and it is apparently on some minds at this time of year.

Thanks for the question.:)

Finnish people don't say Jehova, they say Jumala. Perhaps it's only Finnish Jehovah's Witnesses that say Jehova.
I don't have a name for the guy whose son is the Messiah ;) but I'll go with Lord or G-d.

I didn't see your vote on the stats. Did you choose something and then click the "vote" button???

MODERATOR...

Can you please move this poll to "religious debates"?

I didn't realize it was under Abrahamic Religions/Christian.

Thank you. :)

I didn't vote because I don't have a name for the entity that is the father of the messiah.

Yea I noticed that after I clicked the "submit reply" button. I forgot to put a "Jesus" option for those who believe Jesus is God, too.

[size=-1]Hashem which means "the name". Traditional Jews use the name "Hashem" instead of "God" to show their respect to God by not taking his name lightly in case any one was wondering.

Please accept my apologies for the "Traditional Jews" categorization..

Why don't we just ask GOD what his/her name is.

carrdero: By the way, what is your name?

GOD:I can't tell YOU MY name.

c:Why not? I feel our relationship is on a first-name basis by now.

G:YOU couldn't say MY name; YOU would only hurt YOURself.

c:I was taught it is Jehovah.

G: No, Jehovah means "He Causes To Become." I think YOU are thinking of someone else. The word “He” would imply that I have a gender or a preference to a masculine state of BEing. But as YOU have probably heard, there is really never a “before” or “after,” a “coming or going.” There simply IS.

Also, it wouldn't seem fitting for ME to give MYself a name like "Worship Bob" or "Hi, I'm Rejoice In Me Carl" or "Hello, Glory Sal here." Anything that translated well into I AM would BE fine. GOD with a capital "G" is also acceptable. What's nice about calling on GOD is that I don't get too many souls who ask, "were you calling on me? Oh, you want the other GOD."

I personally like the name "Carman".... or "Tao". :) Both imply that God may be a little different than the majority of the world believes. Eye opening, wow... O.O

Couldn't vote, because I don't believe in any God. I can say, though, that the name "Jehovah" is a misunderstanding of how Bible Hebrew is written, a curious mixture of the consonants YHWH which might have been pronounced something like Yahweh (or Jahve in German or Swedish etc. transcription) and the vowels of Hebrew adonai 'my lord', and should be avoided by all educated persons. Not to offend believers more than necessary, I tend to use "God" when needed.

There is no word or name for it. The closest I have seen come to it is Tao. But even in chapter one in the Tao Te Ching. The Tao can be talked about, but not the eternal tao. Words may point you in the right direction, like a finger pointing to the moon. Instead of worrying about the names (finger pointing), worry about the moon.
