If he leaves office because of illness or death, how will this change the situation in the Middle East and the World?

It is difficult to say at this point. Arafat has made peace negotiations in that region difficult, so his leaving office could make things go more smoothly. But there could also be a power struggle to see who will succeed him in his leadership, which could lead to more warfare.

My guess is that if the PLO can't find a replacement quickly, Peace may break out in the Middle East!
