I can’t keep the same avatar more than a week or two max, get tired of them. Some of you keep yours for literal decades. I don’t know how you do it.

So, I wondered about some of your avatars. Give a lil explanation of how and why you chose yours for the thread ^.^

Ha! It's probably about time I changed this avatar! (I've had this political-flavored one for a few years now.)
Time for something a bit more introverted and stabilizing.

I've done this before on

Your avatar.

So I'll copy it to here

I was helping out as a grunt on an archaeological dig (a hobby of mine). Clearing away spoil in a cave i unearthed a smooth dome. Unsure if it was just a rock or something more interesting i called over the supervisor. He painstakingly unearthed one of the best preserved cro-magnon skulls ever found.

Today you can see it on display at the Nation Museum of Prehistory at Les Eyzies.

It's dated to 22,000 years old so besides the cachet of discovering it, it is handy when in "discussion" with YECs.

If some of you have seen me with a wolverine avatar before, it's something if I remember right, @Revoltingest brought up about me possibly being a wolverine, so I have sometimes sported that avatar and role-played it. I feel like there's an unsaid game some of us play where Revoltingest is Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpson's, and the people with animal avatars kind of face off against him.

Avatar in flux
I grew up in Alaska, additionally with many of my younger adult years in Seattle. Also, I personally identify with the Raven character (brains, skill, trickery when needed, while helping others) from the Native Alaskan mythos. So I chose this Tlingit-styled artwork of the Raven stealing the sun to bring light to the world. ;)

I was also like you for a couple of years. In fact that is why my subheading is “Avatar in flux”. While I was burning through quite a few avatar images each month I put that subheading in. After I got the Raven art, the subheading seemed cool. So I kept that too. They’ve been there for more than 8 years now. :)

I have to admit - I thought it was cool as well. Always wondered what it meant. It always seemed like it must be something so much more profound than just that your forum picture was changing. Hahaha...

I agree. I change mine maybe once or twice a month. I'm due. I change my signature as well.

I went out for a run a week or so ago and saw trucks tearing down trees next to my complex to build I think another shopping plaza. They literally snatched trees out of the ground. I felt a pang in my chest.

Years ago I thought myself an animist. I've been a nature brat since I could walk. It reminded me of the movie furngully.

I may keep it up for week and change it, I don't know.

Mine is from the Chick Tract, Big Daddy. Chick.com: Big Daddy?

It's apparently what creationists think biology teachers and professors are like, which I find hilarious. I also derive a twisted pleasure when someone just can't get past the avatar and bases their whole approach to me on it.
