Hej peeps,

Was wondering if you guys have any songs that are somehow very special/important for you.

For me it will have to be the Swedish song; Vart jag än går and the Russian song; Сердце пацана

Vart jag än går (Wherever I go) - [www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1Oin4lHlXU]
Сердце пацана (Serdce pacana [Heart of a lad]) - [www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzWggCnYVWU]
(Don't know if clicking works; if not you will have to manually copy-paste it ^^)

Why? .. difficult to explain (like most things that are on my mind xd) but I will try.

-Vart jag än går; its lyrics somehow always touched my heart. Even though at first I didn't understand any word (I'm not Swedish xd) I got grasped by its foreign words and pulled into the emotional story without knowing/realizing or understanding anything that was hapening. Its soothing chorus could bring me to tears when I felt down or sad but somehow pulled me out of the mess I ended up in; as it made me realize I wasn't alone. This song was also the reason why I started studying Swedish on my own.

-Сердце пацана; a slightly different story. I have the feeling this lad told my story. He shares my way of thinking, he acts like I do, he questions like I do.. it all comes down to self-identification I guess. The search for someone to hold on to, knowing that that person won't - as he says it beautifuly - 'take my dreams ... thrust the knife and cut my soul' Luckily I now found my 'frost, whose colors paints my whole soul, turning my world into a beautiful winter' :3
Even though I have never been a rap fan, this song, especially the second part, gives me shivers every time I listen to it.

Hope you guys have some interesting stories to share! :D

My musical tastes are pretty plebian, but here goes... Normally I listen to peppy music to help me get through my boring daily tasks. I like swing music lately. But I will try to think of the songs that I like when I'm feeling melancholy... Mostly they seem to be 70s pop songs - "Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkle, "Come Sail Away" by Styx, "Matthew" by John Denver.

Another one that speaks to me is this one from Bach "Harpsichord Concerto No. 1 in D Minor" (or whatever... I don't know much about music LOL)

There is another one that sometimes helps me when I'm depressed. "Under a Serpent Sun" by At the Gates. Sometimes that is cathartic.

Aštra’el

Aštara, Blade of Aštoreth
"Deliverance"
by Opeth
from Stockholm, Sweden

This song is the perfect expression of my soul. It invokes within me profound Celestial and Infernal feelings...

Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy, a kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?

I play this song on the piano, my daughter loves it :)
And the lyrics are actually written out as:

Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, Wooden shoe!"

This. So much this. Not just because the lyrics and music are beautiful, but also because I first listened to it when I was transitioning to being an atheist. That was a very sensitive time for me, and Imagine hit very close to home.
