Your favorite countries?

What are some of your favorite countries? It's of course fine to say your own country, but it'd be more interesting to hear about countries where you don't live.

Greece, Thailand, Ireland, Switzerland - the first three for the people, and their relaxed attitudes to life (when I was there at least), and the last for the mountains and picture-postcard order. Have visited plenty more with variable amounts of liking - few have disappointed - but mainly Europe anyway.

Japan, China, Italy & Germany are some of my favourite places to visit. Even in China after its Cultural Revolution they all still have so much culture, so much to dive into.

Would love to visit both Japan and China - especially since I find the females so attractive, but I guess at my age it would be torture - “Ultimately, it is the desire, not the desired, that we love.” - Friedrich Nietzsche

Is it not strange that desire should so many years outlive performance. - Shakespeare :D Oh, what a bright boy was he. :D

Haha, definitely worth the visit. I’ll be going back to Japan next year, Rugby World Cup is a great excuse!

The Netherlands was pretty cool. Unfortunately, I only have a rudimentary grasp of Dutch, so communication was difficult.

One of my favourite countries too.

Difficult to communicate though?? Most people under the age of 40 (and many over that age) speak English to a good standard. I don't think there is a country in the world where it is easier to get by without speaking the national language.

It's even one of the few countries where most people don't really appreciate you making an effort to speak their language. It's just viewed as an inconvenience rather than good 'cultural etiquette'.

I haven't traveled outside the US, save the Bahamas, but visits to Australia and Scotland are on my bucket list, as I have always been fascinated by the landscape and cultures.

Quite agree with this - very friendly and open too - from the few I have met.

Austria, has to be - the mountains, cities and culture. Malaysia also has a special place in my heart. Germany is like a second home to me but eastern Europe is like licking honey off a razor's edge, sweet and painful at the same time.

America. It's just like home but the people have funny accents. Honest, Americans are so warm and friendly, for the most part and it has almost as beautiful and spectacular scenery as British Columbia where I have lived all my life.

Sadly, being financially challenged for most of my early life, I've never been outside of continental North America though I'd really love to go to India, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Japan and Egypt but I suspect the intense heat in many of these places would likely be very hard on me. I was born in a rain forest for good reason and wilt in hot temperatures.

I especially loved Oregon and have visited several times. When I was a kid my parents took us to Seaside and Cannon Beach on Summer Holidays. The sand! It squeaks!

Italy! Also Austria. Heck, I just love Europe, period. I could be more specific had the question asked about favorite cities.

Huh. When I went, it seemed like very few people knew English. It could have just been one big prank, but probably not.o_O

New Zealand.
It's just so cute!

It's the kitten videos of the international world.
Yeah? I've had one of my more distant cousins move there, it does sound like a paradise in many respects.

Nah - most Dutch speak better English than many Brits.
This is my feeling too that the Dutch have a very high level in English. Though it's not a huge sample, all folks from Netherlands I've met were like native English speakers.

Chinese culture is very deep, I think they're having a small reneissance now. I'd love to go visit some historical places and see the legendary hardware markets there. Iran is another place I'd love to visit, if there is a better climate in the world in the future. Same with Turkey and Greece. Hungary and Mongolia I may visit one day to see if there are traces of the Urals that I share with them.
