So during lockdown I’ve been watching even more YouTube. And a bite sized show I like is Good Mythical Morning. In particular their food showdowns, international, National and even price wars.

Seeing the vast amounts of US variants, got me thinking. What is a food unique to your location (or your cultural/religious background) that you recommend or is your favourite?

I quite enjoy a lot of Indian sweets. Pera/Peda, puri, (the unfortunately spelled) Barfi.

also don’t mind a bit of kangaroo meat. Though it is rich. (Yes, we Aussies eat our National symbolic animal, the kangaroo.)

I like peda too. But it's not my favourite coz its way too sweet for me. Born in Ukraine but raised in India, so yeah, i do like a few Indian snacks like potato fritters, rice cakes (idlis) and even biriyani. I also like chicken and fresh water prawns but very rarely I eat them. I'm more content with vegetarian dishes :=)

There’s a wide variety of Indian snacks (and Indian food in general.) I’ve had soft, crumbly, sweet and savoury peda and barfi lol

Can I cheat? I've travelled quite a bit, and the best thing about Melbourne is how diverse the food scene is. Fantastic Asian mixed with all sorts of great European restaurants, plus the choice of more locally created fusion cuisines.

The luxury of real choice and diversity is just awesome.

PS. I can cook a pretty mean kangaroo, fwiw. Here is a dead easy recipe I used when some overseas visitors came over (American and Swedish)

Local to my area? We have lots of yummy Pho places, as well as artisan chocolates. Ezell's chicken. Garlic fries. We have almost as many teriyaki places as espresso stands.

Foie gras and duck are local delicacies as well as giziers (gizzards). I won't eat them.

The goats cheese I get i made just outside the village and walnut just picked up off th floor in season.

A nearby butcher has his own developed breed of cow, a mix of local stock and Aberdeen Angus. Steaks are fantastic.

We are spoiled for pastries and petite gateaux (small cakes). In the local area we have 3 top Paris restaurant bakers who have moved south and opened shop.

Other than the obvious Maine lobster, we enjoy our red hot dogs (they aren't spicy), brown bread, fiddleheads, and whoopie pies.

Also, baked beans, especially baked in a hole in the ground: Bean-Hole Beans
