I'm on two forums. One is this one, one is a the Torey Hayden (nonfiction author) website, which I joined first about 1999.
Interesting. I am rereading Somebody Else's Kids right now. I finished rereading two others: Just Another Kid and Ghost Girl. I love her books. She actually posts on her forum! She gets involved with the people there (a lot of whom are teachers like she was and some of them parents of special needs kids, like me).I read a book by her almost thirty years ago, called Somebody Else's Kids. I liked it so much I wrote her a letter and told her. But I haven't read anything else by her.
I have a two inch tear in my left Achilles tendon, with a lot of damaged tissue around it. They are going to go in, remove the damaged tissue, recut and then repair the tendon, and hopefully they won't have to go get my tendon FROM MY BIG TOE to supplement the damaged tendon - won't know till they get in there. The MRI wasn't good.
I pulled it and probably tore it just a bit a YEAR ago and have been off and on in an aircast since then - would get a little better but never WELL - and then have a relapse. Finally did an MRI a couple of weeks ago and they were like, "****! There's a two inch tear in that thing!"
I said, "I kept TELLING you guys those stretches you were making me do hurt like hell."
Note to self - pain is communication. Pay attention to it.
I just learned that typing a message in the box thing in Facebook is "updating your status." I'm not much for the social network scene.
Sitting in a coffee shop in Goleta California, taking a break from my new life: riding south along the California Coast on my bicycle looking for a new town to settle in. Thinking I may have found what I'm looking for not far from here and checking Craigslist to see what the local jobs situation is like. It's a lot more promising than it was in the town I took off from.
Thanking god for all the cool places along the beach where you can still get away with camping, and for the fact that at 51 I can still do this (and enjoy it), and for the cool college town I found on the way here, and for the moon and the stars and the ocean at night (basically everything bright and shiny).
And for the internet, and for all you guys.
