The one thing "new" in so-called "New Atheism" is external to it: the willingness to acknowledge that atheism exists.
It was a media catchphrase that some people clíng to, mainly for want of resuming prévious levels of disregard.

Seems to me it is really nothing more than some atheists sinking down to the bar set by theists in how to treat others.
