I got no clue what that's about just remember it was a scandal that was going on. In the past I looked it up but forgot about it cuz I dont care about Taylor Swift

Legit I watch drama and commentary channels on YouTube this the only thing I know about Taylor Swift aside from she makes music. She was mentioned in a brief video about Kanye West and mentioned a bit in some Facebook groups folks were talking about her being racist

Edit: there's also another controversy going on that's being talked about on Facebook regarding her new song? Something about her saying she wanted to live in the 1800s without the racists...i dont know what that's about don't ask me. Seems a bad time to live being the medical care was awful. I just know her PR team must be pretty good because I hardly hear about her on YouTube. There's no deep dives that I've came across nothing like say Amanda Bynes or Kanye West or Ruby Franke...then again ive never cared enough to try searching for a deep dive video on her. Usually just googling a celebrity you would find some kind of controversies and its a long list particularly if they involved in pop culture. But you never hear about that kind of thing with Taylor.

Edit again: yeah nothing that would interest me regarding controversy. Nothing on exploiting children, nothing regarding her that talks on the flaws of the industry or on problematic lawsuits trying to silence critics like with Laura the Mortation(spelling?), or on mlms or even on products and scams...so she's not someone that would pop up on my algorithm in terms of interest. But i hear lots of people on facebook complaining about her being racist or antisemitic or sexist and dont really know why except for that one photo

Im trying to remember what the mention in the Kanye video was...i think it had to do with AI and revenge porn but I can't remember what about. Maybe somebody made a video she didnt consent to with her image? Now that topic would interest me- the problems and ethics of AI and how it can be used poorly and that there needs to be laws in place about it.

I suppose I should comment on the OP too.

I agree with the main point which is, as I see it, why so much fuss over this particular performer? I don't follow pop music much these days, as I rarely hear much I like. The Taylor Swift "thing" though ... I decided to see what all the fuss was about. My conclusion, not bad but I didn't listen to the end of any of the songs. In any case, there's so much great stuff from the early days of Rock and Roll, people like Leonard Cohen, and numerous others, and of course the classics, that I don't need more to listen to.

Something I have found from time to time, relatively unknown stuff self published on Google can be quite amazingly good. I suspect that the talent is still there but it doesn't get a chance in the commercial noise machine.

Sgt. Pepper

All you need is love.
The Beatles have had a deeply profound impact on my life, and I believe that listening to their music helped save my life as I was growing up. In fact, a day has not gone by in the past 38 years that I haven't listened to their music to either cheer me up or just because I enjoy listening to their music. I'm writing this as I listen to them on YouTube. So I can understand how music can have a significant impact on a person's life, whether it is The Beatles or Taylor Swift. For the record, I have five daughters who are devoted Swifties, just as I am a devoted Beatlesmaniac. I listened to her music for my daughters' sake, but I don't like it. I also bear in mind that Macca likes Taylor, so she has talent that he notices and recognizes. It's just not the kind of music that I like to listen to. I know other parents who don't allow their underage children (mainly daughters) to listen to her because they don't think she is a good role model for them. In fact, I've heard them call Taylor a "loose woman" and other usual unsavory names describing a woman who is intimately involved with several different men. It wasn't just Christian parents. I don't judge her because it's her life, and it's none of my business what she does in her private life.

I never got the hype about her OR Elvis OR the Beatles for that matter.
The Beatles developed into something very
different from pop music. One of the few who
appeal to me for some of their work.
Inventive story tellers they are. It's somewhat
like program music (eg, accompanying an
acted story), which says so much more than
a mere tune.
@Sgt. Pepper knows.

Wow! I have to thank you for that. An amazing piece performed amazingly by an amazing musician. I hope she ices her hands after each performance!
Another stand out performance of a different
very percussive & fiendishly difficult piece....

If I had known of such people & works when
younger, I would've actually become interested
in an instrument. But now, my hands & time
aren't up to the task.

Now that Taylor lives in my city I have listened to a few of her songs. They are catchy and well crafted as pop songs go. I don’t find them very complex musically or lyrically. I’m used to music like Talk Talk and Joy Division.

Yes, I do know.

I will be forever grateful to them for their music because they were always there for me, no matter what kind of hell was breaking loose in my home or at school for me. I could listen to their music and experience moments of peace and happiness as I was growing up in a daily hellhole of abuse.

Taste in music is very personal, eh.

Truer words have never been spoken.

It can also help us express how we feel, as this song expresses how I feel about The Beatles.

I definitely prefer Michael Jackson and Madonna.
I don't get the frenzied obsession with any of them.

The swastika (卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, predominantly found in various Eurasian cultures, as well as some African and American ones. In the West it is more widely recognized as a symbol of the German Nazi Party who appropriated it from Asian cultures starting in the early 20th century.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a psychological reason behind the popularity of pop music. For instance, many of the most popular pop songs out there have the same 4 chord progression as pointed out in this song by Axis of Awesome

Warning: the song does have some bad language
