The Bible seems to always promote a flat earth belief over a spherical earth

This image claims that there are 200+ flat earth Bible verses. Though I think at least a few dozen are very relevant and suggest a flat earth rather than a spherical earth. Or they are related to the sun literally going around the earth (part of flat earth theory).

The following web page claims to refute those verses:

But it doesn't argue that any of those verses fit a spherical earth better than a flat earth. The only arguments it presents for a spherical earth involve science rather than the Bible.

Here is a challenge for Christians who aren't flat earthers:

Please give ONE example of a Bible verse that contradicts the flat earth theory (more than it does the globe) or ONE example that suggests a spherical earth.

There is a verse about the "circle" of the earth:

Isaiah 40:22
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
Thoughts:

"enthroned above" - say the throne was above New Zealand... what about people on the opposite side of the globe (Spain)? - to them the throne would be below their feet.

"circle of the earth" in Strong's it said it can mean: "a circle:—circle, circuit, compass"
Seems to fit a circular flat earth better than a sphere.

"its people are like grasshoppers" - on a flat earth you could often get a line of sight to any place on the earth (if it is on a mountain, etc).... but on a sphere the earth could be in the way for about half of it...

"spreads them (the heavens) out like a tent"
I think it would be easier to put up a tent on a circle compared to a sphere. A better analogy for a sphere would be a shell.

Hardly the worst of its inconsistencies.

Hardly the worst of its inconsistencies.
The Bible would often be the core justification for people who believe in the flat earth. Is there any other science-related belief that is criticized more strongly than the flat earth?
I think it is consistent about how it seems to promote a flat earth over a spherical earth.

It has the advantage of not being obviously wrong when evaluated with local data.

So, people are faced with a dilemma: either accept that the Bible is wrong or insist that it is right and the earth really IS flat (despite their own eyes.)

Cognitive dissonance in extremis.
Or they could say it was metaphorical or they just based it on the beliefs at the time in a way that they could understand.

I had no idea "flat-earthers" still existed. Maybe I just live too close to the ocean that reaches farther up the shore every year instead of pouring off the horizon.

Oh but the horizon is one of their big evidences,

The word sphere didn't exist at the time the bible was written.

Why didn't Henry Ford use power steering on his first model T... It didn't exist.

Hard to use something that didn't exist at time of something being written or invented.

We can use current knowledge to critique many past things.

They knew what a ball was. That word is in the Bible. There is no reason that if they believed that the Earth was a sphere that they could have called it that rather than likening it to a flat circle.

Isaiah 22:18a
He will roll you up tightly like a ball

I simply pointed out the word sphere didn't exist.

In any ancient writings has anyone ever described earth or referred to earth as a ball?

IOW, in writings before the bible, how was earth described?
Like Isaiah 22:18a says it could say "like a ball". So are you saying that the Bible's authors knew that the earth was shaped like a ball yet they wrote all of those verses about the earth having ends and it being a circle, and the heavens are like a tent, etc?

Another question for ya...

Does a circle or ball have four corners?

Of course not so the four corners evidently refer to something else. Maybe N, S, E and W.

says:
the Hebrew language did include the word "sphere" as of the fifth century B.C. or earlier. The Hebrew word for "sphere" is "kav." This concept was used in ancient Hebrew cosmology to describe the celestial sphere or the vault of the sky.
Just because it wasn't used in the sphere sense in the Bible it doesn't mean the word didn't exist. It could have said it was like a ball rather than being a circle, etc. Why did God help create a Bible that overwhelmingly supports the flat earthers and not even support globe believers one tiny bit?

The earliest documented mention of the concept [a spherical earth] dates from around the 5th century BC
Anyway the Bible itself compares something to a ball.
