  • Yes, Abibi, I am a ragin' Cajun ******* living in Texas - but only one hour from Louisiana!
Politics is much worse in the Middle east. I wish you luck with your dreams. Curing illness (by God's will) is always an honorable duty :)

    I'm Ahmed, btw. :)
You are most welcome, brother :)
I'm not being active in debates lately, but your posts grabbed my attention perfectly. :)
    Walaikum as salaam Brother

Thanks for the head up :)

You can read Hossein Nasr's Ideals and Realities of Islam (there is another book by Nasr Islam: Religion, History and Civilization which I havent read), Ling's Muhammad: A biography based on the earliest sources and Fazlur Rehman's Islam. Last but certainly not the least is Schuon's Understanding Islam.

Among Non-Muslim works, W.C. Smith's book Islam in modern history is illuminating, as is his chapter on Islam in The meaning and end of religion. A writer who carries forward some of Smiths thoughts is Karen Armstrong.

I myself am reading the book here these days by the way :)
    Hey!!

Thanks so much! I appreciate that.
I love making the effort and make cross borders trip, Im always content with my trips in this region, as limited as they are.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm trying to write more on politics in America, and your words are encouraging.

Yesterday, I read a blog post by a woman who's conclusions I simply could not accept. But her reasoning was so tight it was a pleasure to read her. Besides, she got me thinking, which is its own reward. I wound up hoping I could have the same effect on others for I think she made the world just a tiny bit better with her post, even though I could not agree with it.
I was thinking earlier today about the Forum has all sorts of people on it - from rich to poor, from one belief to another, from moral to immoral, from smart to stupid. And the thought came to me that you are one of the most decent and smartest people on the Forum these days.
Hi Abibi! I happen to keep a blog that I post to most days. I'm not sure you would like it, but I figure you should have the option to check it out if you want to check it out. So, here's the address: Café Philos: an internet café Of course, I consider you under no obligation to drop by. I just want you to have the option.
Alas, I'm nothing so politically meaningful or engaged as a "conservative". I'm one of those useless Libertarians on the margin.
Yeah, but I moved here from up North and prior to that I lived in Pakistan. I think Cairo is cooler year round then where I live, that is so unfair.
    Thank you :)

Yes i live in Egypt, cairo to be particular. You live in Arizona, right?
Hi Abibi, Thanks for the friendship request.

Just want to tell you that i find your posts very intelligent. Its good to see Muslims like you around.
