Dear UltraViolet:
I should begin by saying that the Temple of Set isn't all bad. I am, for the most part grateful for my time as a Setian Initiate. I learned a lot about Magic and am proud to have been Initiated into the Dark Arts, an for the friends I made. However, from talking with ex-members of the Priesthood of the ToS I came to find out some things that disturbed me about the direction the ToS seems to be going.
All the infighting that goes on between the heiarchy of the temple. All the politics that goes on. About 75% of the Priesthood III* is political, its who you know, whose got your back, who your friends with. A lot of III* members do not deserve that degree. I found this out when I discovered most I* and II* members knew more than some of the III* priesthood.
One of the reasons the ToS was formed was because most of them were priesthood members of the CoS who left when Anton LaVey decided if you gave him $1000 he would make you a priest. The ToS seems to be going down this same road; the ToS III* are required to donate a certain amount of money in order to purchase computers and software for other III* members. So you see, the ToS III* isn't entirely free. Not only that part of your $85.00 annual renewal fee goes towards renting luctury suites for VI*+ members at there annual conclaves.
I personally wouldn't mind re-joining the ToS, but they'd better get their act together first. I mis the fellowship, however as a Satanist I tend to be a lone wolf and have a good number of LHP friends.
