Hey .lava! It's by pure coincidence that I watched this documentary on the Armenian genocide the other day. It was partly about the murder of the writer, Hrant Dink in 2008.

That's true about governments and those who run them. It seems none of these governments are worth much to the average person. As least they are not worth as much as the government thinks it is worth.

One reason I am coming to admire artists and musicians so much is because they -- unlike politicians and governments --- are likely to leave the world a little more beautiful than they find it.

I think anyone who makes the world a little bit more compassionate and beautiful -- in any way makes the world a little bit more compassionate and beautiful -- has done a good job with their life.

It's about 8:30 in the morning here. The weather is really cold -- below freezing. But my apartment is warm.

Lately, I have been listening to a reading of Howard Zinn's History of the United States. You know what I learned? It's always been the same -- the government has always been very slow to listen to the people here. I didn't know it had always been the same. We Americans pride ourselves on having a democratic government that listens to us. But that's a myth according to Zinn. And he proves it's a myth. It really makes me upset to listen to Zinn tell how again and again the majority of Americans have wanted one thing, and the government has wanted another, and the government has won. It's the same story --- over and over again. Very disturbing.

Well, at least tomorrow is a feast day! I've got that to look forward to! I promise not to eat too much so that I will live longer and have plenty of time to bug you.
