  • Put simply it's Demon Worship. The specifics vary from person to person though since you're encouraged to explore it your own way. Loads of info on it here if you're interested: demonolatry.org | Files & eBooks (Downloads)
I do fine, thank you very much. I am a mixed breed I may add. 1/7 insane, 2/7 intellectual, and 4/7 bat-**** crazy :D
Fair enough. Just remember that Colorado has the best clothing optional natural hot springs in the country. Just kidding! I don't really know if the ones we've got are the best. :D

Perhaps the main reason I like Colorado -- aside from the friends and family I have here -- is nature. The wilderness starts about eight miles from where I live, and I find it inspirational.
Denver is night and day different from Colorado Springs. My younger brother lives in Denver and has no complaints about it at all. The Springs is an over-grown hick town, and Denver is a major city with wonderful amenities, a great night life, and lots of decent neighborhoods. Please don't judge all of Colorado by the Springs alone. The Springs in many ways is the odd man out.
Sorry to hear about your mother's religiosity. I've often thought people who go through what you've been through are to be admired for their intellectual integrity. It cannot be easy to think for yourself under such circumstances.

Getting back to Colorado Springs, you should see how the local fundamentalists behave here! A few years ago, they finally became numerous enough to elect the mayor and city council. And the first order of business after the election was for the mayor and city council to revoke benefits to unmarried partners of city employees. They did that before they did anything else.
I bet it does! I grew up in a small town in Illinois. It would have been wiser to have called myself secular than agnostic in that town, too.

My mother thought religion was both very private and very important. Too important for children to make decisions about. So she forbade us from deciding about religious matters until we became adults. Thus, I was agnostic most of my youth.
May I ask what town that is? I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which is sometimes referred to as "the Jerusalem of the Rockies" because it is infested with fundamentalists. Fortunately, I live in a little liberal bubble within the town.

    I applaud your activism!
Indeed, it is tiring! I was an admin for three years and I left exhausted.

I found this forum through an ad on another forum. At that time, I was closer to agnosticism than atheism. I've had a life long interest in religion, but that was only part of the reason I was attracted to this place. The other part was I thought that it would be relaxing to discuss religion on the internet. Yeah, I was that naive!
I've been a moderator, a super-moderator, and an administrator in the past. Now, I'm a retired administrator, or administrator emeritus. It basically means I have the right to offer my opinion to the active staff on forum matters, but not the obligation to do so.
Yeah, I've been frequenting the Forum for nine years now. I keep looking for some place better to while away my free time, but I guess I haven't looked hard enough. :)

How did you find the place?
You welcome! I very much enjoy your well reasoned posts, although I don't always completely agree with them. But I think you're an asset to the Forum. :)
