  • Fantasy is my favorite genre, because most other genres are so mundane that I feel like I can't relate to them. With fantasy, an author gets to think outside of the box and play god by creating new worlds.

I'm reading a variety of stuff, mainly because I'm not a good writer and I want to read a variety of different narrative modes, characters, styles, grammar usages, etc. So I got a box of fantasy books from my friend to look through, and I've specifically been picking out opposites.

So the first book was some big ugly dude that hacks and slashes his way through a run-down medieval world. The second is about a masochistic prostitute spy in a lovely beautiful world that uses her talents and job to spy on royals and untangle complex political ambitions. The third one I'm going to read is about con men in a fantasy world.

Maybe at some point I can send you a PM with some of my plot ideas.
Sorry to hear you dropped your class. Sounds like you made progress with writing, character art, and technology investments, though.

There's not a whole not new with me. Still working, still doing master's degree, plus running a small side business. This together takes up a lot of time.

I guess one thing is that I'm reading a bunch of fantasy novels to learn how to write, because I have several plot ideas that I'd like to turn into novels, in theory at least.
    Thanks, Quaggy. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry for the yelling, but you know how noisy it gets on New Year's Eve. :D

(Actually, I'm really happy to be spending it quietly at home after all the recent traveling and activities.)
Hi Naykid! How did you manage to hack Quagmire's account this early? I thought you only showed up to post carols on the holidays...

Anyway, if you ever need help changing your password so Quagmire won't take hold of your account again, feel free to drop me a visitor message. I actually really like the way you look in that pic, so consider yourself backed up. :D
    Naykid, GTFO.

Quagmire, there's some lunchmeat and cheese in the fridge. While you're up, make me a sammich, m'kay?
That's OK, Rick. I was just wrapping his Christmas present -- and he saw it. He's gonnna have to learn -- if you peek, you don't get it. I'm sorry to have to do this, but it's switches and ashes for him.
::Leaves whole bunch of bananas on Quagmire's profile for Naykid::

Note says: "Happy Holidays! - Phil"
I like the DIR idea! Maybe we could make a DIR and then a public announcement, or an announcement first?
I think we should be on the look out at all times. And check each other's backs. For instance, I'm pretty darned concerned there might be a gwickle snatcher hiding out here, but I ain't been able to sneak up on it yet. Maybe we should go public with an announcement. But that could cause panic.
