    I guess people were coming in, and keep getting the wrong impression that the thread somehow was trying to justify anything, rather than address specific situations. It wouldn't have made much difference how many times we made it clear, as each one reading the thread for the first time was either going to get the right impression from the OP or not, and they were going to post based on that. Not many people read through a long thread.
