I started this thread a couple days ago with the hope that I could get opinions from across the spectrum of belief. There have been some interesting and illuminating thoughts brought forth. Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but for myself, I didn't intend to place a burden of proof on...
I hope that this is a good place to get some ideas on a question that has puzzled me for some time.
Let me state the question and then try to frame it a bit.
“Why are some people naturally predisposed to belief in a God while others aren’t?” For reference, I’m an atheist as it pertains to...
.....and of course the purpose of an internet forum is to enable us to interject our opinions where they haven't been asked for....which is where I fit in.
Personally I don't believe there is an inherent purpose to our lives... I think that, if we want our lives to have any meaning or purpose...
The Oscillating Ocelot?....probably not because it's better described as a cat than a tiny animal. I liked that phrase too much to care about accuracy though.
I think it's illogical to believe in any of that....except leprechauns....those guys are definitely real. One of them made me a bowl of cereal this morning.
Just to be a pain in the *** I'd like to subtract one from your list. Death isn't inevitable outside of sexual reproduction. Take an amoeba, give it adequate nutrients and protect it from predators, what you end up with is something that will reproduce but not necessarily die.
